I worked at Luminex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Growing company, good benefits, lots of opportunity to move around the company. Great compensation.

    Cons

Older workforce, "old boys club" upper management, pretty conservative in values, value age/experience over education. Product portfolio is all over the place; company seems disorganized.

    Advice to Management

Focus on what you're good at, and try to do that. Streamline products/services.

I worked at Luminex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some of the people were very helpful when I had questions. The 401k match was outstanding!

    Cons

There was not enough thought put into new products and the design of them. They would jump into new products so quickly that once it was time to manufacture market release products, there were so many issues and flaws that should have been caught in design transfer. There are also many problems with the instruments not working or no longer being supported because they were so old. Plus there was a lot of turnover in... the manufacturing group so by the time the associate was trained they were already one step out the door. The working environment was toxic at times. I didn't have enough resources to do my job well. There's not enough staffing in the QC and QA departments so it took more time than necessary to get product into inventory. I felt very stressed on a daily basis.

    Advice to Management

My direct manager micro managed me all the time. I don't feel that I was respected by him and he didn't think I could get the job done. I did not feel appreciated whatsoever by management. Everyone was walking on pins and needles because they were afraid to make a mistake. If they did make a mistake they were chastised very harshly. There are too many middle managers that do not do enough work or know what is going... on. There is no opportunity for professional growth or advancement in the company.

I have been working at Luminex full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent benefits, good working relationships among team members

    Cons

More politics than I have ever seen at a company this size. Employees are treated as very disposable, not developed at all

    Advice to Management

Stop buying already existing technology and having R&D fix it up; allow your talented scientists to create. Show some love to employees by developing them

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Strong team players - Great benefits and pay

    Cons

    - Some (not all) executive staff are VERY entitled and don't listen to their team. - If you want to grow in your career at Luminex, expect to work more than 40 hours a week. If you are a 9-5 person and can't put in the extra hours when needed, this isn't the place for you.

    Pros

Luminex has smart, passionate people who work here. The connection to our customers is important aspect in how we do business and helps us provide the right solutions. The employee benefits are leading in our industry.

    Cons

Communication across the organization can be a challenge. Due to the size and number of sites, there needs to be focus on improving this effort. Also, try to update some of the older buildings within HQ campus.
