I have been working at Luminus Devices full-time

    Pros

Actually get to see the final product function. Working with LEDs in its variety of shapes and colors is interesting.

    Cons

Little room for growth. Communication challenges with employees exists because they are stationed across the globe. Supply chain challenges.

    Advice to Management

Have closer interaction with engineers. Find out what are the critical challenges are and list them in order of importance. Once identified, use a team effort to collectively solve that challenge before moving onto the next one. If this is not possible .. tackle the two most critical challenges by devoting a team of engineers to one and another group to another.

    Pros

cutting edge tech, still some highly talented people there to learn from/with, nice office in Billerica, easy schedule of 9-5, for a long time I had a great boss to learn from and a good group to work with and get support from

    Cons

no promotions, raises, murky future, underpaying employees, poor office in Woburn, poor interoffice communication, glass ceiling, refuse to fill positions where people have left, more responsibility does not lead to more $

    Advice to Management

    go back to China

    Pros

Fellow coworkers are at the top of their respective fields. Benefits are very good.

    Cons

No work-home life balance. No recognition for loyalty or hard work. Too many middle-management members that won't do what they consider menial tasks, but the administrative support staff keeps getting laid off.

    Advice to Management

Recognize that you need administrative support or require your middle-management members to pick up the slack.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Luminus Devices full-time

    Pros

Not much to recommend. Some very good people. Pay was acceptable. Benefits were good until the company turned all HR over to ADP Total Source.

    Cons

Too many to list. Chinese management (owned by Sanan Optoelectronics) initially seemed like a good idea. Huge company with large resources. But the team put in place knows absolutely nothing about leadership of a Western team.
