I worked at Lutron (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the most talented people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Very solid work life balance. Very 9 - 5 Mon - Fri atmosphere. Mike Pessina is a real leader. Joel Spira would be proud.

    Cons

Hampered by politics. You've got 3 or 4 camps under specific VPs and everyone is pandering to executive management.

    Advice to Management

Value opposition. Less 'yes' people and more real people.

incompetent management focused only on production goals and profit.

    low moral.

    Advice to Management

better coordination of production, focus on how you can change something to make a goal more reachable rather than raising goals with no explanation. Focus on employee relations rather than seeing them as dollar signs.

    Pros

Great starting salary, my immediate manager was supportive and reasonable. Just wasn't what I was looking for in a position.

    Cons

I was told that there was 3 weeks of training before going on support and it turned out that I was on Teir 2 support in 6 days,.

    Advice to Management

Do the 3 weeks of training to insure comfort level when goign solo for support.

    I worked at Lutron full-time

    Pros

Mid-size established lighting company with enough room for movement, if you make it that far

    Cons

Weird culture. The egos here run wild. In the sticks of PA. If you're "different" in ANY way, you might have trouble fitting in here. Different can mean a lot of things, but if you visited and worked there, you'd probably soon understand what I mean. I was never comfortable from day 1.

    Advice to Management

In Lutron's case, executives might actually want to consider micro managing some departments...if they were more involved, they'd probably realize they are employing full teams that are completely unnecessary, 10 jobs that could be done by 1 person.
