I have been working at Lutron full-time

    Pros

Great place for an engineer to work. High paced development environment. Lots of opportunities for advancement if you are willing to work for them.

    Cons

High expectations of their people. Lots of internal shuffle may not be ok with some people.

    Advice to Management

SAY THANK YOU. Show your appreciation for what people do, especially on a more personal level

I worked at Lutron as an intern

    Pros

Really open culture. You are free to seek advice and collaborate with anyone across any of the teams here- they really want you to succeed. Also, the cafeteria food is pretty great and for a relatively good price. People are nice, and the area has stuff to do if you can find people to do it with.

    Cons

The intern program is kind of weak- we had about 3 social events total and they were all in the second half of the summer. Also, my supervisor wasn't very helpful as he didn't specialize in the same field as I.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the interns are matched with a relevant supervisor.

I worked at Lutron as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Real hands-on engineering work
    -Wonderfully supportive co-workers
    -Beautiful place to live

Lutron has by far been the most positive intern experience I've ever had. They had the perfect balance of teaching and requiring you to learn yourself. It paid very well and was an incredibly valuable experience from first to last.

    Cons

    -Not a lot of standardization/structure
-Intern activities are a bit useless
    -Shadowing system not very effective

    Advice to Management

Don't be so afraid of standardization. Whenever I tried to look for or even create a standardized process, I was told "there's no point, every project is different." Nevertheless, it will be much easier for your new employees (especially temporary employees) if there is some standardized processes they can use as a jumping off point.

I worked at Lutron as an intern

    Pros

The company culture is great. They plan a lot of events for other interns to get to know each other and going to work every day was exciting to see everyone.

    Cons

It was a little unorganized at the beginning and took a while for my internship to really get into the swing of things.

    Advice to Management

Have a clear plan of what you want the interns to do so as to not waste anyones time.

I worked at Lutron full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great starting salary, my immediate manager was supportive and reasonable. Just wasn't what I was looking for in a position.

    Cons

I was told that there was 3 weeks of training before going on support and it turned out that I was on Teir 2 support in 6 days,.

    Advice to Management

Do the 3 weeks of training to insure comfort level when goign solo for support.
