I have been working at Luxor Hotel and Casino part-time

    Pros

Luxor has good pay and you can make a decent amount on commission from upgrades and late check outs.

    Cons

A lot of the guest are rude because the property's rates are so low.

    Advice to Management

Management is great but the new higher ups needs to calm down...they came in changing everything without knowing why the property does certain things a certain way.

I worked at Luxor Hotel and Casino full-time

    Pros

The people that work at Luxor are very friendly. The benefits are good and there is room for advancement.

    Cons

Luxor is part of MGM Resorts International. The computers are not set up or maintained well. Copiers, printers and other devices are not maintained well either.

    Advice to Management

Spend more money on setting up and maintaining the computers and daily devices that enable your business.

    Pros

You have a chance to make great money. When you go above and beyond, it is noticed.

    Cons

Working the On Call list/board is hard on anyone. I have kids and a husband and being available at any given moment can get challenging. 75% of my shifts I had only 2-3 hours notice beforehand.

I have been working at Luxor Hotel and Casino full-time

    Pros

Managers are helpful in most Departments. Pay is good. Team members are like family. There are opportunities for growth to move up and transfer to other properties. The benefits such as health coverage is outstanding. There are discounts available locally and for travel.

    Cons

It smells. The hotel is finally getting upgrades that are so needed. INTERNAL maintenance department doesn't like assisting anyone when having to do repairs. Dealers are impolite and never hold the door for anyone ever. Employees take advantage of management when they don't get what they want. Most of them don't want to work due to the fact they have been there 10 to 20 years and feel entitled. The lack of support from certain managers in all departments makes a huge impact on the team's. Customer service is null and needs to be enforced ! The collectice bargaining contract protects those whom contribute nothing positive to their job and make the work environment very negative. It is a privilege not a right to have a well paying job that provides great insurance and job security. Overall atmosphere needs a boost to rebuild morale.

    Advice to Management

Current GM is the best. VERY supportive and willing to help get where you want to go for a better future. Managers need to be consitant in enforcing policies in order to be respected by team. Being polite is a start!

I worked at Luxor Hotel and Casino full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Paid lunch free in cafeteria. Complimentary tickets to property events. Management is clear what your goals are and provide you with tools to achieve it. Recognition from your peers.

    Cons

No system in place to advance employees. Replaced employees with machines.

    Advice to Management

If someone earns employee of the month are they not good enough to keep in the company?

    Cons

    Pros

MGM Resorts as a company has some great incentives. Being apart of the union you get a free meal every shift, paid time off, uniforms cleaned, and other great perks.

    Cons

I was hired but never actually worked. I was told I would be getting 40 hrs per week at the interview, however after training they told me I would be on call. They never called me in so I never actually worked and I was technically employed for 6 months. Huge lack of communication between managers and employees. Could never get ahold of anyone, had to stop in multiple times and was always told I would start getting hours soon.

    Advice to Management

Should be upfront and honest about intentions. Need better communication.
