I worked at Luxottica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Luxottica's corporate office has flexible PTO depending on department. There's a great work-life balance, and one has the ability to truly own their work. Base salary is comparable to industry standards, but negotiation is necessary. There are not set processes in place which is great if you're ready to dive in day one. There's a stipend for the cafeteria, and there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with the OneSight organization by means of sample sales and paid volunteer trips. OK discount on eyewear. Flexible dress code. Plenty of opportunities for title changes, if that's what you're after. Truly recommend this company if you are seasoned in your field and work-life balance/flexibility is your number one priority.

    Cons

Higher management on some teams is composed of "great employees" meaning they have excelled at their jobs yet lack the skill set to train and develop a team. Lots of micromanaging from cross-functional partners, and unrealistic expectations. Teams work in silos and any simple task not explicitly written in the job description becomes hard to deal with as everyone states: "that's not my job." Overall frustration when no one can get on the same page of monthly goals 2 weeks into the month. Do not recommend if you are new to the industry and looking for a place to learn processes that can be taken elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

The company is going through lots of changes, and a merger coming soon. Now is the time to put in place strong leadership that truly understands the fast-paced retail atmosphere in which their product is being sold. It would behoove the wholesale team to communicate more with its retail division in Ohio. Management needs to understand their role as a leader and not just a senior in their department.

I have been working at Luxottica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Global company makes for interesting international opportunities for some
    - Corp HQ quite diverse due to global nature of the business
    - Multiple brands within the parent company offers diversity of experience
    - Great employee discounts on glasses & sunglasses

    Cons

    - Global HQ in Milan calls the shots for the really important stuff
    - People don't seem to be having "fun" & tend to complain
    - Pressure on financial results seems to be at the expense of innovation

    Advice to Management

Communicate more openly with employees - happens until a certain level of senior management, but even they seem to be in the dark of what the topmost echelon is thinking

I worked at Luxottica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A progressive company with outstanding benefits where employees are given time and encouragement to give back to the community.

    Cons

Pay on the low side of the curve. Extreme deadline pressure. Occasionally rudderless management. Lack of internal transparency when considering layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Should better align local management with global vision. More consistent focus at the local level. Better pay for field associates.

I have been working at Luxottica full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere from a store standpoint, clientele that shops in location are wonderful, and benefits are decent. Company recently cleaned up its work load allocation in stores. Not a bad company to work for, but not the best either.

    Cons

A lot of politics, hard to move up in the company. Starting wages for employees are horrible, the commission that gets discussed isn't enough to keep good employees since the cut backs. High turn over in general, no breaks/lunches.

    Advice to Management

Remove the politics, offer employees a living wage (the ridiculous cost of living increases are insulting), roll out better IT information when updates occur and allow your work force to have a proper amount of time to complete tasks.

I have been working at Luxottica part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun atmosphere
Great co-workers ( for the most part): Luxottica likes to employ people who are energetic, positive and passionate about work
Nice discount: Year round employees receive 30% off and special weeks throughout the year discount is raised to 50%
Able to apply discount to all affiliate Luxottica stores ( Sunglass Hut, Lenses Crafters, Ilori, etc.)
Free pair of frames on your one year anniversary working for Luxottica

    Cons

Pay rate is horrible for the reputation they uphold. I was surprised to learn how a multi billion dollar company pays their employees globally at such an average rate, employees should easily be payed a much higher hourly rate of pay; if you want to be seen as a luxury retail store ( which is what management boasts about frequently) you should pay your workers a fairer wage.

    Advice to Management

Luxottica is rated as one of the best places to work for full time employees, but for those who work part time, the benefits are slim to none and that should be addressed as well.
