I worked at Luxottica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Luxottica's corporate office has flexible PTO depending on department. There's a great work-life balance, and one has the ability to truly own their work. Base salary is comparable to industry standards, but negotiation is necessary. There are not set processes in place which is great if you're ready to dive in day one. There's a stipend for the cafeteria, and there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with the OneSight organization by means of sample sales and paid volunteer trips. OK discount on eyewear. Flexible dress code. Plenty of opportunities for title changes, if that's what you're after. Truly recommend this company if you are seasoned in your field and work-life balance/flexibility is your number one priority.

    Cons

Higher management on some teams is composed of "great employees" meaning they have excelled at their jobs yet lack the skill set to train and develop a team. Lots of micromanaging from cross-functional partners, and unrealistic expectations. Teams work in silos and any simple task not explicitly written in the job description becomes hard to deal with as everyone states: "that's not my job." Overall frustration when no one can get on the same page of monthly goals 2 weeks into the month. Do not recommend if you are new to the industry and looking for a place to learn processes that can be taken elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

The company is going through lots of changes, and a merger coming soon. Now is the time to put in place strong leadership that truly understands the fast-paced retail atmosphere in which their product is being sold. It would behoove the wholesale team to communicate more with its retail division in Ohio. Management needs to understand their role as a leader and not just a senior in their department.

I worked at Luxottica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a dynamic company where new ideas are welcome and find a possibility to become real.
The environment is young and fast, therefore interesting and challenging.
It is possible to grow inside the company as for career and skills.
It is a fit company and the economic trend is not an issue for it.

    Cons

It is not well structured at all. The guidelines within specific teams change too quickly, to accomplish the corporate requirements, that also change every day.
Very often the teamwork is not considered as a priority and therefore the run to get to the yearly economic goal is the driver of most of the internal dynamics.

    Advice to Management

Invest more on teamwork and on the single individual, including everybody, at all levels.

I have been working at Luxottica part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro is receiving the occasional 50% off sunglasses

    Cons

Employees are very much underpaid especially for how hard an individual has to work to make a sale and that is only to maybe see 1% commission on your check from the $300 possibly $500 sale you just made for SUNGLASSHUT selling a piece of plastic or metal that cost $15 to make. Not to mention that personal goals can reach up to $5,000 a week . Your receipt of commission is determined by the rest of your team and store achieving goal. There is a lot of pressure put on staff for unrealistic numbers to be met. There is very little to no incentive to make sales. The company thrives off of under paid well driven people.

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate employees that can execute and close multiple sales. Hard working people are hard to come by especially in the area I work in
