I worked at Luxottica part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a entry level worker I had no idea what to expect. In fact I knew nothing about Sunglasses. I was determined to be a really good worker wherever i got hired and that's the exact mindset you're going to need going into this job. My managers were the best people I could work with. They were extremely nice, talented, and knowledgeable. It is a fun job but it is required you take it seriously while having fun. You are to make sure you tackle communication with customers which may be intimidating, but once you get to talk and learn about the customers it is actually very fun. Leaving purely for business ($) reasons. Otherwise i would have never ever left the very fun environment.

    Cons

The wage and commission was a little low and it is very hard to communicate with anyone above the manager.

    Advice to Management

Management was perfect. Very flexible and understanding with your school schedule. The only changes needed are soley upper management that supplies us with products. They are not very considerate at all making it hard to sell.

I worked at Luxottica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun industry, good camaraderie, and you learn a lot in a short time frame.

    Cons

Poor management with a high resistance to change, one way communication, no transparency, poor recognition, and globally a low productivity due to a lack of organization leading to cyclic contradictions.
The work/life balance can be also difficult to manage and the low curve pay disengages employees after a while (High turn over)

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people and start collaborating instead of giving orders

    Pros

Great work, impressive people, get you in touch with the entire company. The company is successful and a lot of that is from their people.

    Cons

Only 10 week long internship, don't have it completely down on retention rates to keep people for full time

    Advice to Management

    Work on campus recruiting

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Luxottica full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere from a store standpoint, clientele that shops in location are wonderful, and benefits are decent. Company recently cleaned up its work load allocation in stores. Not a bad company to work for, but not the best either.

    Cons

A lot of politics, hard to move up in the company. Starting wages for employees are horrible, the commission that gets discussed isn't enough to keep good employees since the cut backs. High turn over in general, no breaks/lunches.

    Advice to Management

Remove the politics, offer employees a living wage (the ridiculous cost of living increases are insulting), roll out better IT information when updates occur and allow your work force to have a proper amount of time to complete tasks.

    Cons

You will be overworked and underpaid, and pay increases can only exist in your dreams
hard work WILL NOT get recognized, which is why all the good workers leave
management needs to read a ethics book on how to treat employees properly
Managers will never be content with anything no matter how well anyone produces and are only concerned about how many more hours can you work after your regular shift

    Advice to Management
