I worked at Lycoming College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The majority of the staff are friendly, the two week winter paid time off is nice and the health insurance is okay, but costly.

    Cons

The faculty have a sense of entitlement, as do a lot of the people in upper management on both sides of faculty and staff, the lack of communication everywhere on the campus becomes irritating after a while and the very poor pay.

    Advice to Management

Better pay and better inter-campus communication.

I have been working at Lycoming College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This position is only open to students, but I would highly recommend the position to anyone who is proficient in writing. My co-workers are my peers and we all get along well.

    Cons

Some tutoring sessions are brutal and the pay is minimum wage. I get the school can't afford to shell out money to student workers, but we should be adequately compensated for the important work we do.

    Advice to Management

Increase some budgets for student worker pay.

I worked at Lycoming College (More than a year)

    Pros

Convenient for a student, nice way to gain experience and meet people. Developed marketable skills for summer internships and post graduate jobs. At times even fill in for full time employees to provide valuable service.

    Cons

Even though it was convenient as a student, the work was often busywork or the opposite - invaluable for the college but for an extremely low minimum wage. In addition, students are restricted to 20 hours a week. If you need serious money for tuition, look off campus.

    Advice to Management

Definitely pay above minimum wage. I performed duties that are now expected of full time salaried employees. I didn't feel particularly valued for the service I was providing for the college, and often felt taken advantage of.
