I have been working at Lynntech full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The types of projects vary from year to year, depending on the phase of the project. So it hasn’t gotten boring even after 3 years of working at Lynntech. I also really enjoy my manager and coworkers. Upper management are easy to approach.

    Cons

Sometimes in SBIR and R&D your idea isn’t going to work and you have to be OK with failure. Some of the science is going to be novel and try to push broundaries and it may not always pan out.

I have been working at Lynntech part-time

    Pros

Coworkers are very nice and fun to work with. You can work on many different projects and gain useful experience. Schedule is flexible, as long as your work is getting done.

    Cons

Low pay for what is expected of you, expecially for student/entry level positions. Many tools and software are outdated.

I worked at Lynntech full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lynntech gets a lot of interesting and innovative projects. You can get some unique research experiences here.

    Cons

Academia, and scientific research in particular, is extremely toxic. Lynntech is no exception. You will likely put in hours of overtime, and then be reprimanded for not “doing enough”. Being constantly thrown under the bus, blamed for things not your fault or outside of your control, and being frequently belittled are all par for the course at Lynntech. I strongly advise against working here for more than a year. The interesting work is almost completely overshadowed by the toxic culture, not to mention the terrible benefits. There is no time off. You have to accrue vacation. Working over weekends is typical. I cannot stress enough how awful it was to work here. Speaking with coworkers and other employees confirmed that I was not alone in my experiences.

    Lynntech Response

    August 13, 2020Director of HR

Thanks for your insight into Lynntech as it offers a point of view. We agree research development, inventing what does not exist, working to deadlines and budgets, and working in cross-functional teams is rewarding for many but not for all. We implemented the 9/80 work schedule to make additional leisure time available. We wish you the best in your next venture.

I worked at Lynntech full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very smart people. Lots of innovation and awesome SBIR & STTR projects to work on.

    Cons

Almost no one has business expertise to get any of the ideas from concept to market. Pretty much a proposal mill and projects die not because they don't work but because no one knows how to commercialize them. Company is admin heavy, therefore much of grant funds go towards paying non-technical support/admin staff. Less than half the money goes to the actual project. Management is bad. Supervisors adopt a CYA mentality, so you are quickly thrown under the bus when it suits them. The HR department is more an advocate for the company than the employees. They renege on promises, including raises. If you raise concerns about questionable practices via email, management forces you to move conversations to verbal so there's no record. If you go here, get EVERYTHING IN WRITING. EVERYTHING!

    Lynntech Response

We appreciate hearing your assessment. Its true, inventing new technologies and commercializing is hard and not for everyone. We recently invented and secured commercial sales for our On-Demand Hypoxia Trainer ®, spun out a company called ODS® as well as have TRIAD-MP™ and two additional products in our pipeline. This is denoted on our website. Lynntech has a long history of technology development and commercialization thus in 2017 the Small Business Administration awarded us the Tibbets award for being one of the best. We are also pleased that we have many Sr. Research Associates and engineers with 10, 15 and 20 plus years of service. We hope you have found a good place where you can thrive as well.

    Pros

Work is very diverse Projects can be very interesting You may never work on the same thing again One of the top SBIR companies in America

    Cons

You work on so many different things you never really get great at anything Poor salary and benefits - and this is widely acknowledged even at Lynntech People...people with giant egos. Turn over seems high. The above reasons could be why. Taking pros and cons together, I have made up my mind that I don't like working here.

I worked at Lynntech for more than 8 years

    Pros

Work on cutting edge technology and have access to state of the art facilities and equipment.

    Cons

An enormous amount of govt tax dollars wasted on research that has no value. The executives don't seem to have any real desire to take any risks on their technology by investing in them to take them to market. Instead it's proposal funded phase 1 phase 2, rinse cycle repeat.
