    Pros

Awesome opportunity to network and learn a lot about the college education.

    Cons

It was pretty good. Only problem was the opportunities for advancement. Would love to see paths for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Try to become a place that helps those in various positions in life and give every employee the same opportunities to achieve.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Lynwood Unified School District (More than a year)

    Pros

Not to many pros as substitute teacher. Maybe the pay. one of the highest rates in the school districts in the area.

    Cons

Many cons. First, students. They have to respect for subs, especially in Lynwood High, and Firebaugh high. The administration does not want you to send out students with referrals. Even though they may use profanity toward you or threatened you physically, they do not want to hear about it. They swept all criminal and negative behavior under the rug. You are never right, they listen to the students side only, and your only an at will employee. They block you from AESOP system from the school, so you don't sub there anymore. Pay is not worth the verbal abuse and profanity. Many wannabe gang members at these school sites as well. Since there are no more suspensions, or consequences they send them back to class after you have been verbally threatened or cursed at. DON'T APPLY HERE!!!!

    Advice to Management

SUPPORT YOUR TEACHERS, even if they are substitute teachers. COMMON SENSE WILL TELL YOU, if there are no consequences at your school or in the classroom, students will do want ever they want. WHAT ABOUT the students that do want to learn. THEY DON"T CARE, THEY JUST CARE about attendance and the money from state and federal money received for each student.
If you go to Human Resources, they do not want to speak with you about any situation. Since the substitute is at will, your not worth anything to administration or to Human Resources. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DISTRICT.....

I worked at Lynwood Unified School District part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great International Baccalaureate program.
    Great AP program.
Diverse choice of clubs and extra curricular activities.
Diverse opportunities to mentor and tutor underclassmen to succeed.
    High graduation rate.

    Cons

    In need of many resources.
    Needs to be supported financially.
    Lack of beneficial security.
    Gain student and teacher/staff involvement.

    Advice to Management

Administration must stand up and join together to fight for our community. They must demand more resources and manage money usefully, instead of spending on useless things. They must motivate students to want to attend school everyday and watch all the young students from our community succeed.

I worked at Lynwood Unified School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It was a pleasure to teach and mentor the students the 34 years of my employ there and I enjoyed my experience with other employees of the school district.

    Cons

Because of different backgrounds and cultures, it was necessary to develop and use various techniques and strategies in order to get along with my comrades. Promotions came about on a merit basis and the compensation was quite sufficient.

    Advice to Management

The main emphasis is to align oneself with others with the objective being to attain the task at hand while developing good relationships in the workplace. Realizing that there are people with different ideas with best intentions of succeeding in accomplishing goals that may run counter to one's own, different strategies may be necessary to achieve the required result. Compensation should be based on merit.
