I worked at LyonHeart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for growth, rewards ambition

Same challenges as rest of the industry--shrinking budgets

    Pros

Full-time staffed employees are compensated very well. Salary + Benefits + Overtime.

    Cons

The hours are insane, there is no interdepartmental cohesion, and oftentimes account reps are just downright disrespectful. No one there knows how to run an interactive agency, or has any understanding of how long development really takes. Promises are made to clients mid-project without consulting development, which in turn causes deadlines to be missed and budgets to be broken.

    Advice to Management

Clean house, integrate the departments, develop and follow a clean work flow process.

    Pros

The agency has a lot going for it -- great history, great campaigns, some very creative people. Their offices are very edgy and design-centric, which belies some of the neanderthal thinking that goes on there. As they move into the 2st century, they need to pay more attention to how to get best results from people

    Cons

Some management are very bright and focused on improving the company. Many others, especially the younger people are so inexperienced that they feel threatened by their own lack of knowledge. The place is totally dysfunctional in some respects, with everyone having an office with a thick metal door on it--the result of which seems to be that you can shoot a cannon down the hall most days and not hit anyone as they are locked in. Communication is terrible between siloed functions. If you are going to work there, best advice is to go find your supervisor and talk to him or her every day, because they won't come looking for you. In the whole time I was there, my "supervisor" had one -- exactly one--meeting to touch base with her reports, and it was utter chaos. Upper management uses the 'seagull technique' to come in and flap around during meetings, contributing nothing much. Employees seem to be scared much of the time--and would be much more productive if some of them weren't so egotistical and doctrinaire.

    Advice to Management

    Talk more. Pontificate less.

    Pros

    flexibility
    nice people
    great benefits
    HR/Mangement is approachable

    Cons

    lack of senior leadership
    CUE project is a disaster
seems that peoples hands are tied when it comes to making changes
lots of layoffs in recent years
    lack new business team

    Advice to Management

make changes - enough with the bagel chats where you basically say nothing. no more lip service - please take action and save our agency.
