No Clear Vision For Future

Pros

M/A/R/C is a well respected company with 50+ years in the market research industry. People are very knowledgeable and is a great place to learn about market research and build a good foundation. Very hands off management style so you aren't micromanaged.

Cons

Since several long-tenured leaders have retired, the culture has gone down-hill fast. Managers are very passive aggressive and will put down anyone that they feel threatens their authority. There is a lot of in-fighting between departments and resources are often hoarded so they don't have to be shared with other teams. There is virtually no organized training program or career path so it is difficult to stay motivated when there aren't clear goals to strive for. Work life balance is also non-existent. Turnover was high and people were asked to take on additional work with no support. Worked many long days and into the night and when concerns were brought up to management the response was "Everyone is dealing with it", which somehow in their minds made it ok. They will squeeze you for every ounce of productivity you have and not respect your personal boundaries. Will try to tell you that you couldn't do better elsewhere.

Good employees .....Really absent CEO

Pros

Wonderful history on talented researchers....and a well deserved reputation in the market.

Cons

The CEO has no clue of what industry he is in and what it takes to prepare for the future. He's rather go to sporting events and blog about himself than try and learn about the business he is in. He's run things on fear and efficiency and starved the business of new ideas, new perspective and new blood. Same management team for the last 10 years. Stale and mediocre.

Great place to learn the ropes

Pros

You work with a broad range of methodologies from the first day. Great statistics team. Fast-pace that allows you to get exposure to every aspect of the marketing research process. People really like what they do and are very knowledgeable about the field.

Cons

Leadership stuck in their ways. Unbalanced style, most supervisors go from micromanaging to ignoring requests for support or for basic guidance within a very short time. Communications can be unprofessional or even rude at times. Lack of diversity and zero awareness of D&I basics at all levels of the organization.
