    Positive Outlook

I have been working at M-B Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Good compensation
    -Decent benefits
-You get to experience all the different challenges of putting these large trucks together
    -Very little monotony
    -Mostly good people
    -Full tuition reimbursement
-Few "politics" compared to a larger company

    Cons

-Location! Chilton, WI is not a happening place.
-All of white collar commutes from larger areas which prevents any after work activities
-A lot of the production/manufacturing staff have abrasive personalities.
-The physical size of the building, it definitely needs to be expanded
-HR needs to revamp how employees earn vacation. Current plan seems old fashioned.

    Advice to Management

-Recent change in general managers seems to please everyone
-Create advancement levels for employees to strive for. There is no structure for that currently.

I worked at M-B Companies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Run Away, do not waste your time!!

    Cons

Lack of Direction. New hires are thrown into the mix WITHOUT proper training. Forced to purchase tools without knowing where they are going to land within the company. Environment is primarily Male and the atmosphere is geared towards sexual harassment and is not addressed when a complaint is made. Employees have an open new rules respect for the company with confrontations between employees allowed. Smoking and Phone use is abused, again, never addressed by management.

    Advice to Management

As long as the current management is in place, this place is a terrible environment to work in if you're a female. They should have a sign or make females well aware that you'll be talked to like you're a piece of meat instead of a female with a brain. Upper management should all be let go for this alone!! A work place with lack of enforced policies and harassment running rampant should have the doors shut by the State.

    Pros

Very few. Company has good product lines.

    Cons

Senior management is erratic and egotistical. Atmosphere and language in the office belongs in a locker room. Totally unprofessional. No clear direction or long range planning. Stay away from this company.

    Advice to Management

Clean house in your senior management and bring managers in who understand leadership principles.

    Pros

Strong product line. Very competitive within the market. They build a quality product and are innovative in their designs and meeting customer expectations.

    Cons

Lack of good management. High stress environment. Regular meetings are not held and management does not define expectations nor give much in the way of guidance.

    Advice to Management

Adopt clear and definable goals and objectives. Establish a comprehensive product training program to provide employees with the information necessary for them to be product experts. Hold regular structured meetings.

    I worked at M-B Companies full-time

    Pros

The hiring process has little standard. If you simply need "a job", there's your hint.

    Cons

If you are a recent graduate seeking to gain experience in order to pave the way for your career, Look elsewhere. Here, you will pick up lots of bad habits which your later (and hopefully more prosperous) profession will not appreciate – shortsight, reluctance, poor communication, close-mind, poor teamwork, aggressive attitude, lack of leadership - just to name a few. Advancements are rare, so you need not to anticipate it during your time here. Certain junior managers can be pathologically high-maintenance, while powerless being a mentor. Many senior managers are fundamentally deceptive and share nepotism. Appropriately voicing your opinions can often be used against you.
If you are a mid-level professional looking for a stable firm while you can climb the ladder, look elsewhere. The key word in MB Companies is “volatile”. Frequent business direction shift, high turn-over rate of staff, ousting of senior managers, feud with the union, racism, sexism, discrimination of other groups, you will see it all. As is said before, career advancements should not be included in your scope, as your ambition will be eroded by the hierarchy. Long-term staff (over 3 years) being terminated on a word of “we will move forward without you” has occurred numerous times, quietly. Termination reasons generally will not be given. Announcements are not usually made. How you find out things like that is one of your co-workers in your office area one day raises a puzzling question, “so where did XXX go?”
If you are one of those who look to retire here, well, I have seen some shopper workers who have proudly achieved this, but never the professionals from the office level.

    Advice to Management

    I decline to give any.

    Pros

Good product and service- gaining traction as formidable competition in the market place (Snow Removal)

    Cons

Revolving production worker door is making it difficult for company to honor lead times. Fire sales people due to cut backs when sales are at record pace- no correlation between job performance and who gets let go. I have heard from others outside of company that paranoia exists and many good people are suddenly let go for no apparent reason. I was lured into a hotel conference room thinking I was going out to dinner and got fired on the spot with no reason- benefits ended on the spot- It was brutal-

    Advice to Management

Consider the impact no consideration or loyalty to hard working people who want to make a difference. Look in the mirror and ask yourself why its tough to get people to work at MB- the word is getting out

    Pros

    Easy work designing heavy equipment!

Amazing shop workers who will do whatever it takes to get the job done. Truly mercurial workers.

    Cons

Its all about attitude. When the mindset is just keep doing the same thing they did in the past.. and then they wonder why the competition is 10 years ahead. Complete lack of innovation or want to change, the Company Culture is what will destroy this place.

    Advice to Management

    Yea this one is easy

DONT hire a salesman to run engineering and production! Given in was hysterical to sit around a table and watch how no one knew what a gantt chart was… haha heaven forbid a technical drawing!

Be honest with people. Don't blame or punish the employees due to your poor planning
