I have been working at M+W Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere, no micromanagement. No real friction in the group. Each person knows what they are supposed to be doing and they do it. Collegial work atmosphere, no "it's not my job" baloney between engineers and designers.

    Cons

understaffed, need to upgrade all software to what works best with current drafting software. Not a big fan of Autodesk products but I'll take what I have to.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at M+W Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company has strong potential and opportunity to develop growth. Training, benefits and compensation was impressive.

    Cons

By the Office / Company continuing to rely primarily on one customer they ignore or otherwise refuse to look at markets other than their primary customers market. Inexperience field experience which reflected in poor or otherwise outdated designs and implementation that resulted in conflicts with customers budgets and expectations.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to learn employees backgrounds and the areas of their expertise. Personally attempted many times to no avail to introduce M&W to BMW North America Manufacturing facility through my 12 year tier 1 vendor relationship where I served as a lead designer and installation manager.

I worked at M+W Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Growing and Learning to be part of a team that backs what they preach, and do not hesitate to cross train and open the path for you to move up in the ranks is the best one can wish for, and its within the Tool Install team that you can find such great attitudes and Management. The ratings below do not reflect Management Levels above Design Directors.

    Cons

Upper management at the Global level has lost their vision of what the company stands for and has caused a very unstable environment. Stress is part of every job, but lately due to Global Management anxiousness has been introduced into the ranks.

    Advice to Management

It will take a lot to get over a bad PR crisis. Try to get better reviews and be engaged with your employees. I sure hope other teams within the group can learn from the Tool Install team and its leadership.

    Pros

Not sure there isn't very many pros about M+W OK let me find one benefits. Short drive to work. New office is nice but then of course they laid off everybody so there's nobody there.

    Cons

    I worked at M+W Group

    Pros

salary, training, some incentives - lunches, after hours gatherings

    Cons

no quality control or internal reviews on projects

    Advice to Management

Have employee reviews, assessments, one on one's, occasional department meetings to keep everyone on same page and to respond to any concerns. Did not have any of those felt not much support.

I worked at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

M+W US has a lot of very good employees. Your peers tend to be hard-working and nice, down to earth people. There is a lot of diversity among the employees lending a lot of different viewpoints to various situations. They have contracts with big names like Global Foundries, SUNY, and Intel. Most departments seem to get along with each other pretty well. Workplace benefits are a little better than average.

    Cons

Management has a hard time projecting time needed to work on projects. They lack foresight when it comes to financial matters and push forward without consulting those involved in acquisitions and assignments. The Human Resources department tends to have a blind eye to discrimination when they think it won't cause too much of a hassle. Employees are generally treated as numbers and not people, when it matters most.... Salaries, while touted as competitive tend to be low, and bonuses tend to be few and far between. Performance reviews tend to be an attack on the employee and not a positive critique.

    Advice to Management

My advice to upper management is to keep all your teams in one company, to maintain unity. Management should also take a look at project leads and location based team leads as some of them have no management or engineering backgrounds. Consider being fair to those that are employed on a work visa, as well as those that ask for help from Human Resources. Generally, those employees that offer opinions should not be... flagged as problem employees, as they are just trying to help. Also consider paying your employees a competitive overtime salary as this will encourage employees to be motivated.

I worked at M+W Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The company pays well and you can gain a lot of experience if you are willing to work hard and ask a lot of questions. Team structure helps to get the projects completed on time and team leads are helpful to get missing information from the customer.

    Cons

Management is old school and there are a lot of politics involved with management decisions. Management does not know what it really takes to get the job done and pushes the poor decisions onto the designers with almost impossible deadline expectations.

    Advice to Management

Meet more often with designers and maybe implement a management review system to find out how the decisions they are making effect the designers and the quality of the product.

I have been working at M+W Group

    Pros

Young, energetic group of designers make it a fun place to work. Good pay considering the type of work we do.

    Cons

Sloppy management is distant and not visible in the day to day environment. Lack of support for training initiatives (code classes) make it difficult to get the proper foundation.
