I have been working at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Have to admit that it was rough for a bit, but it's really coming around! Management has taken that hard look and made the commitment to improve everything. Change takes time, but it's working. We used to focus just on semi-conductor but we've really expanded our life sciences and added a data center market. Lots of opportunities for those who think out of the box!!!

    Cons

Typical to the A/E/C industry. Long hours sometimes, deadlines, but nothing unique.

    Advice to Management

Change takes time and it's not always easy. There are a lot of good people in the company that want us to succeed. Listen to their ideas, work on improving our processes and communication. Make strategic hires across all levels that support new ideas and innovative thinking. We are seeing the results already!!

I worked at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They do pretty complex projects and some of the people are good people. Other then that there's not much more.

    Cons

Upper management is the worst I have ever seen. There is no organization what so ever on job sites. People running jobs and who are the face to the client are really unprofessional and seem to offer no guidance at all.

    Advice to Management

Needs a very aggressive reorganization of upper management.

I have been working at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

High pace environment, coordinate and learn about all disciplines, decent pay and benefits, people from all over the country work here

    Cons

Ability/path to advancement not clear. Project Management decisions extremely top heavy. Cost before quality on some projects. Hard time saying 'no' to clients.

    Advice to Management

Provide training, a clear path, a program, get more involved in the advancement of young professionals. On-boarding new employees has absolutely 0 structure.

I worked at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    (1) Employees are given a lot of autonomy. (2) Benefits include relocation reimbursement (e.g. $4000), health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401k (employer matches a max of 1.5% of salary), and profit-sharing bonus. (3) The company will pay for job-related trainings as long as you give your manager enough advance notice.

    Cons

    (1) The vast majority of work (~80%) is from two major U.S. semiconductor manufacturers so the types of projects are limited. (2) Corporate professional development is limited to only the most elite employees (~1%). There are no development programs for anyone else. (3) New-hire training consists of dozens of PowerPoint slides with vague descriptions. (4) There is no real mentoring system and your boss will... likely be unavailable due to travel or workload. (5) Learning consists almost entirely of asking peers questions and of trial-and-error. (6) Your accomplishments will probably not be recognized but your errors or omissions will probably be criticized in public. (7) The work not very technical; you’ll spend more time routing piping than doing actual engineering.

    Advice to Management

    (1) Take responsibility for your mistakes rather than blaming them on subordinates (2) Take time to actually listen to your employees. (3) Focus more on communicating face to face rather than by email.

I have been working at M+W Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They care about their people. Very intelligent and hard working. Great benefits. Vat wealth of knowledge to learn from.

    Cons

Limited market, manly semiconductor. Work is inconsistent at times. Lack of collaboration between departments. Older employees refuses to learn and invest in new technologies.

    Advice to Management

Business development needs to get a clue and keep work coming in. Hard to move up in management because people don't move on. Listen more to your employees about technology and progress.

I have been working at M+W Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Competitive salary, good benefits. Good hours (typically 40 hour work week for me) if you plan your work and manage your deadlines well. Lots of experienced, friendly people to work with.

    Cons

Need better market/client diversification (they are trying to improve). When those few large clients stop providing so much work, a lot of employees have little billable work (and they recently had to do layoffs for the first time in 10 years). Occasionally deadlines can seem unreasonable.

I worked at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company merges with atmosphere of its client (Intel) easily, but what real atmosphere of M+W is hard to say. Work at Intel's site was real fun but mostly because of Intel's culture. Many young and talented guys trying to bring the difference to the world, great to work with, despite of outdated mentality in management.

    Cons

No stability in work load due to issues in decision making mechanism of M+W's executives and lower management. During 2011-2013 it was obvious, company experienced deficit with quality management. No information absorbed from real life, managers were making decisions without confidence, without listening to client's annual reports, probably by luck of education or flexibility. People were getting laid off with 5... minutes notice (nothing was illegal,- but very careless practices.)

    Advice to Management

Executives must closely look into management hierarchy. Some people have to go, those, who are too old mentally, who don't understand and not willing to keep up with "Youtube-Facebook's generation - C," who are real obstacles to the modern environment, and who have been carried by others financially without making any sense on the market for quite sometime.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits and perks. Relaxed working environment.

    Cons

Seems to be quite inefficient and may lose money. When this happens, lay-offs are inevitable.

    Advice to Management

Strengthen organization structure, increase work efficiency and most of all, strengthen financial controls to make sure projects are profitable. Also need to improve good recruitment process to avoid bad blood infusion.
