I worked at M+W Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Swimming:
Some of the most professional and fun team environments with lots of opportunity to cross disciplines and learn how projects come together. Hardworking designers put their life into making a success out of opportunities.
    Good healthcare cost and plans.
Global presence: Travel and see the world.
Challenging work environment and tough clients make the best opportunity for learning.

    Cons

    Sinking:
Work / Life balance and a 48hr average work week. During project high times which might last a year +50hr workweek is expected.
High level of anxiety due to upper management/executives not finding their keel.
Change of direction during past couple of years: the group has gone from a peoples business to a money business. Felt like accountants are running decisions on contracts/promotions/time management with little knowledge of what it would take to make things work.
Lack of congruence between what management says, and how they treat people.
Does not matter how hard or smart you work, if the company does not make profit your efforts are not recognized.
Promotions are far and few, only saw them happening if there was an empty shoe that needed to be filled. Some people were promoted which were not able to handle things as they did not have the experience/attitude. People who had reached higher levels were not given a raise until they gave two week notices.
Seems accountants up high have tied profits into incorrect metrics, as under their direction the group has not done well financially and has lost talent. Being LEAN/TCW and Pull Planning will not work unless upper management embraces it.
The Hypocrisy of requiring an efficiency ratio which does not allow time for training, and then requiring TCW+LEAN which take cultural change and lots of cross-training.
Bring your pay up to what the industry pays for your type of projects, and give promotions when people deserve it, or be prepared to loose the ship trying to keep the owner happy.

    Advice to Management

    Sink or Swim
Find a third leg and stabilize the seat. The instability coming from high up, does have profound effects down at designer/lead/project management levels.
Go back to your roots and build people, so that profits follow. How many times can you ask an army to march in battles that they win, but at the end they are told that it was for nothing. Build confidence in your people: even though a project was unsuccessful financially, if the team did well, give kudos/spot bonus/certificates to people who deserve it. Bonus, Promotion, Title, Certificate of Appreciation, Something...
"Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients." -Richard Branson
"Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to" -Richard Branson

CEO Rating is for prior few years CEO's that scorched their mark and were let go.

    Pros

Not sure there isn't very many pros about M+W OK let me find one benefits. Short drive to work. New office is nice but then of course they laid off everybody so there's nobody there.

    Cons

Tons of cons don't know whether you're going to get laid off one week or another week no way to grow you're stuck in the same role forever management doesn't talk to employees employees don't talk to employees design isn't coordinate. Time to move on.

    Advice to Management

Get a backbone run the company correctly stand up for your employees act like you care

I have been working at M+W Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good and dedicated co-workers. Good benefits and pay. Large company backing means the paychecks will not bounce.

    Cons

Chaos in Energy segment management for the last 2 years doesn't seem to be abating. Poor group cohesion. Management cares about the overall bottom line much more than the people. My manager didn't have my back.

    Advice to Management

Look to your people: They are the most valuable resource you have. They will be the only differentiator between M+W and everyone else. When people are killing themselves to get the job done, get help for them and recognize them personally.

I have been working at M+W Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some good people, but usually they will get laid off, pay is competitive

    Cons

Mass layoffs constantly, always laying off the people who are trying to make a difference and turn the company around leaving the same core group of ineptitude remaining. Extremely toxic company culture. 3 Americas CEO's in less than a year, 4 Global CEO's in under 4 years. Current CEO is a nightmare

    Advice to Management

Sell the Company to a firm that knows what they are doing

    Pros

The Marketing Team was the best part of this company.

    Cons

3 U.S. CEO's in under 2 years. 4 Global CEO's in under 4 years. No leadership. No message. Mass lay off's today. New Global CEO's and American CEO brought on with the promise of multi million dollar bonuses if they can sell Group within 3-6 months. Lots off skeletons in the closet here.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to lead. Develop a consistent message. Go public. Then you might start making money.

I have been working at M+W Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of a single Positive thing to say about this company

    Cons

    No standard process and procedures
Lies to Clients about their ability to delivery Integrated Project Delivery
Has No back log here in America
They have the worse political environment that I've ever seen at a company
They don't think Estimating and Reconstruction is the foundation of a company
They would rather outsource in lieu of hiring American staff to the job
The worse case of "good ol boys" club at the executive level where Women are not welcome to present to their clients
No path for advancement or growth
Everything they sell you about the company can be assumed to be a lie as I've experienced this first hand and had many people tell me they experienced the same thing.
The company looks good on paper but its only a veneer and when you walk inside its a true zombie house.
Executive level hires "YES MEN" and if you don't agree then your fired.
They sole source to their in house Mechanical/electrical trade and lead on outside trades for client comparison pricing and have their in house trade beat it. UNETHICAL!!!
They Fire upper management and replace with new people when its their lack of industry standard processes and procedures that hold them back. Nothing will change with new management....same monumental road blocks.
Germany controls the American Market and doesn't give America the authority to even approve simple software desperately needed.
I could go on and on.....DON"T WORK FOR M+W!!! will be a huge mistake.

    Advice to Management

Don't fire your good leadership and replace with new and expect different results....that's not the issue.

Excellent and professional workforce but company is unable to retain quality personnel. Those who remain demonstrate perseverance in the face of great adversity.

    Cons

Incompetent and revolving CEOs. Flavor of the day is an inept hatchet man. Predecessor was a professional ribbon cutter. Owner is utterly clueless or at the very least paying little attention. Business appears to be on a downward spiral.

    Advice to Management
