    Pros

They have some really good people. They have work. But so does a lot of other companies. Lack of organization allows people to work and do things in a variety of different ways. This can also be a con.

    Cons

The good people are not recognized. Well, no one is really recognized. So maybe a pro in that everyone is treated equally. Leadership is lost. We were an EPC company, then design build, then an integrator. We focused on Semiconductor, then data centers, then energy projects. The only real business left is Semiconductor facilities. The company as a whole does not understand the value that design can bring to... their projects. Not experts in their industry.

    Advice to Management

Get a real plan together. Understand the phases of design and construction. Staff you projects appropriately. Learn that transparency builds trust with both your clients and your staff. Build a culture of putting the staff first. Stop hiring managers who want to manage via title and ego. Pick a business model and then build to that model. It will take time and money. It will be hard.

    I worked at M+W Group full-time

    Pros

Good people. Competitive salary. Decent benefits

    Cons

Micromanaged from the top (Germany) down to the local level by C level staff who are really clueless. Endless political intrigue and worry about keeping employed unless you are in the right click. No investment in tech tools to do the job. What tech tools do exist are antiquated and obsolete. Some great senior level and mid seniority level people, but dwindling fast.

    Advice to Management

A change in name will NOT hide the problems that exist. Clients have a long memory. Diversity in thought is critical for the success of a technology service company. It is stifled in the US by GroupThink and old school leadership.

    Pros

They get it, and are bringing in the people to change it. Pay and benefits are great. There really are good people that want to make a change. It's finally happening.

    Cons

    Progress is slow, but happening

I worked at M+W Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

There are no positive things to say

    Cons

Where do I start? - No communication from Management on critical items like bonuses (none for last 2 years); merit increases (no communication at all, only select few got merits); what's going on in the company. -All the good people (A players are gone). -They constantly promote the wrong people, if you get demoted from a project you become a Director, if your department is disbanded and you are potentially out... of a job you become a Director, if you are buddies with VPs you become a Director; if you cry because you want to move from east coast to west coast you become a Director - Recent voluntary departures of PM/DM who saved critical project in Rocky Mtn NW and was respected by Construction and Design; BD Lead who won many proposal efforts; Lead BD/Director for DataCenters all got fed up and moved on. -Software and hardware applications are pathetic. -No more A players left who Top 100 clients respected. -Do not promote the resources who made them money and executed projects successfully. -Current design organization is pathetic. -NO work life balance - The BIG project has still not materialized

I have been working at M+W Group full-time

    Pros

Health Benefits Recent 40 hour work weeks (not sure if this lasts once a project rolls in) Good people in the present staff

    Cons

Always out for the big project and working on one of these requires lot's of overtime (unpaid if your salary). Always a bad year, so no raises or bonuses, no matter what the effort. You are not judged as an individual and what you've done. Management has a short memory. Multiple layoffs, many senior level people are gone. Design staff is young, inexperienced. Competitors show up with the grey haired, M+W shows... up in diapers. Per diem for travelers is ridiculous, gives no incentive to travel. Company does not do small projects, task orders doing bathroom renovations is not a small project, it's garbage. They speak of bonus based on merit, an on the spot bonus that clears $300 that's spread around to 10 people out of all the people that work here is laughable. Company has closed offices and have told those affected to move or lose your job. As a result the talent is leaving. There is no confidence in the management, many are looking!

    Advice to Management

Get better reviews, tough to get projects if potential clients read these. You need better reviews, you are not going to get talent if potential employees read these. Take care of your people, reward those that put in the effort. First you need to figure who they are. Reward those that are innovative, who address design mistakes from inexperienced staff. Do something to instill confidence! Wake up, you have... big issues! Phoenix & Albany, NY are nice places to work, however they don't offer a large base of A&E consulting firms to work for. With your backlog, how do you expect people to uproot and move. Then get laid off! I've seen that happen. You might re-think this rule of no travelers. The fact is that most of the present work requires travel. That's enough, your on the edge and may not be able to recover.

I have been working at M+W Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some good people, but usually they will get laid off, pay is competitive

    Cons

Mass layoffs constantly, always laying off the people who are trying to make a difference and turn the company around leaving the same core group of ineptitude remaining. Extremely toxic company culture. 3 Americas CEO's in less than a year, 4 Global CEO's in under 4 years. Current CEO is a nightmare

    Advice to Management

Sell the Company to a firm that knows what they are doing

I have been working at M+W Group full-time

    Pros

Excellent; hard working people. Good pay.

    Cons

They make commitments to customers to get work knowing they can't deliver. The design manager for their biggest client provided the Vice President with the competitors bid and I was asked to prepare a bid based on their bid. When I declined to collude on the bid, the relationship with the VP soured badly and I left 2 months later

    Advice to Management

Demonstrate integrity with your clients and employees. Communicate and live by your values. Manage your resources better; my discipline was 85% utiliized. The architecture discipline was less than 50% and still hiring. The only way to create sustainable goodwill with clients requires you be straight with them.

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are comparable to the industry average. You do get to work with some good people (if they haven't left yet).

    Cons

Micro-managed by corporate (Germany), 3 CEO's in 9 months reeks of desperation, no clear vision for the future, constant layoffs (almost always the wrong people), lack of communication from top level management leaves average employees walking on eggshells, the culture that is portrayed is far from reality, highly resistant to real change, technologically 20 years behind, lacks efficient processes and automation,... invests in outside consultants rather than investing in their own people, the entire IT function is a complete mess as it is outdated and lacks any true leadership, no accountability in finance and accounting.... I could go on.

    Advice to Management

Having numerous entities creates numerous redundancies, find true leaders that can look at the big picture and change it for the betterment of the company, realize that it is going to take some time to repair broken relationships and a tarnished reputation before you will see any real success. Realize that business conditions and requirements have changed since the 2000's. Allow your subject matter experts to do... their jobs.

    Pros

They do pretty complex projects and some of the people are good people. Other then that there's not much more.

    Cons

Upper management is the worst I have ever seen. There is no organization what so ever on job sites. People running jobs and who are the face to the client are really unprofessional and seem to offer no guidance at all.

    Advice to Management

Needs a very aggressive reorganization of upper management.
