    I have been working at M&C Saatchi Performance full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    The atmosphere is very comfortable and fun. Everyone is extremely hard working and takes much pride in what they do which constantly keeps you motivated. It has a family feel to it in combination with extreme professionalism which makes this a great company to work for.

    Cons

    Communication in life, is key. I feel if there is an issue or tension anywhere, it needs to be talked about , not ignored or pushed to the side, so things will run smoothly. I find this could happen a little more frequently here, but other than that, no complaints.

    Advice to Management

    Again with communication. If an employee is doing something wrong, it needs to be addressed ASAP so they can fix whatever it is they're doing. If someone is doing too much of something, not enough, etc., they need to know about it so upper management is happy. There are designated times for sit downs, however, certain things and issues shouldn't wait, especially if the employee doesn't know they're doing something that...

    Pros

    Used to have a family feel. Everyone around you had your back, including management. This has been replaced with fear as clients dwindle and lack of transparency from management increases

    Cons

    No investment in employee training or growth. No strategy for regaining company culture or client growth/retention. All departments except media are managed out of the UK, providing little support for the US (e.g. analytics, programmatic, adops, etc.). Employees are generally overworked and underpaid

    They try really hard to make you happy by supplying alcohol.

    Cons

    Pretty sure higher pay and respect for the extremely overworked employees would be much more appreciated than alcohol.

    Friday drinks are nice, but more so a bandaid for fixing real problems.

    Senior leadership has zero vision. Staff is worked hard, minimal learning opportunities, overall the vibe is miserable.

    The location of the NYC office is great, and the company culture is youthful and fun which can make tough days a bit better. The company is growing rapidly, so it's a good place get thrown right into things and learn quickly.

    Cons

    This place feels more like high school than an office, and those that make it feel this way unfortunately tend to be the most successful. There is a very strong "boy's club" mentality that makes it really difficult progress, especially if you're a woman, unless you play into it. The party culture is overwhelming.     Advice to Management

    If you don't take a moment to stop and assess how things are done, you're bound to crash and burn. Let go of the "flat hierarchy" concept and enforce some actual management. Set a better examples for your employees. It's possible to encourage a fun workplace without throwing professionalism out the door.

    When applying for this job, understand that you have people training you who have no experience training. It is hands-on, and the training lacks real professionalism. Upper-management and supervisors do not train you, someone of the same position (who has worked less than a year) will "train" you - it is not their fault that they have no experience, but there is a reason so many assistant media planners leave.     Hire people who have different personalities. It will break up the cliques. Have real people training us on media planning duties, instead of other assistants who don't know training etiquette. We have supervisors but they're only to be used for checking work, have them teach trainers how to train. Although M&C strives to have a flat structure hierarchy, it makes supervisors your friends.
