    Pros

Most weekends off. Decent benefits for a small company. Despite the short comings of the company as a whole there are some very good co-workers.

    Cons

Where to start? It's a small company that will always be a small company because they hold themselves back. They want to be perceived as a major player, but are afraid (or are too cheap, I'm not sure which) to step up and play the wholesale game on the same level as their competition.

They want to sell in the big box arena and earmark product that big box stores "might" buy and handicap their salesmen who struggle to make sales to the core customers who grew them to where they are today. These core customers play second fiddle to the big box stores and are forced to purchase their staple products from other vendors. If M&M continues this course there will be no need for the professional sales staff and their hard working support staff.

Is M&M a good place to work? No where close to what it once was.

Both locations are in the "hood" not safe at all.

The owner ignores any suggestions the staff and management may have. And the C.O.O. Is nothing more than a yes man feeding the owner what he wants to hear.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and pull your head out before it's too late.

    Pros

The only benefit to this company is that I get to work Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5:30pm. Evenings and weekends off. There are no other pros to this company

    Cons

Benefits are horrible. Customers purchase product cheaper than we are allowed to. Owner and his sidekick (COO/President) are only out for themselves if you know what I mean. They don't care if you put your fake smile on and make your phone calls every day (that's all they care about), if you are a top sales guy and have a bad month, you might as well pack your stuff because they are coming for you unless you've been there 20+ years. Then you can just irritate everyone with no concern at all. Sales Manager was a good guy and they laid him off because sales were low (that was actually told to us in a very informal and unemotional meeting).

    Advice to Management

What management? I would give a word of advice I've there was such a thing. There is no leadership in this company anymore. Stop the insanity and keep inventory in stock or we will never hit our goals. Gotta have inventory to sell. Also, get rid of half your admin staff. Half the time they are playing on the Internet or literally reading a book because they have nothing to do. Maybe new upper management is the key to success if you give them enough rope to move. Not just enough to hang themselves.

I worked at M&M Merchandisers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Sales team, and good products.

    Cons

Management is favoritism. No breaks were given most times. If you did not hit your goal after 6 months they canned you.

    Advice to Management

Promote the ones who deserve it not the ones who have been their the longest.

I have been working at M&M Merchandisers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Huge catalog, good product variety.

    Cons

The President is not interested in changing anything and hasn't been in 20 years. The COO is all about collecting a paycheck and making his kid look good. (His kid BTW is the sorriest excuse for a sales rep you'll ever see) The President's kid also works there . . .

If you are not a family member or a brown noser then it's not the place for you. The VP of Sales is a puppet who can't or won't make any decisions on his own. They have no marketing dept at all.

This company may have been great in 1985 but now they are a dinosaur with no interest in changing. If you are a creative thinker this is where you go to die and forget everything you know about being successful.

If you need a job and have no other options then take a gig here until you find another option, nothing more.

    Advice to Management

    Create a modern business model.
Give your sales team a reason to be successful.
Encourage "New" business and "Cold Calling"
    Get some sort of CRM
