    Pros

Great people and good work life balance within many corporate roles. Good opportunities to learn and grow your knowledge base. Strong management team that is well respected in the industry. Very good job security.

    Cons

Low pay across he board. Salaries are anywhere from 10 to 20% below market. Stock based comp only goes to VP and above and growth of stock isn’t what is used to be. Limited ability to get promoted and very slow - well behind industry in rate of promotion of younger workers. High turnover of below 35 year old employees. Company is playing catch-up on IT Investment and this cost combined with low fee based income will restrict ability to brim pay in line with market. Management sees Buffalo based employees as having limited other employment options so no need to pay a competitive salary. Won’t give bonus targets and bonuses tend to be very small. Benefits are ok except medical which is a terrible high deductible plan.

    Advice to Management

Bring your compensation in line with the market or one day you will find a total lack of talent in the pipeline. Focus on greater revenue generation to increase profits as opposed to squeezing Buffalo based employees to the bone to make your numbers. Provide a better healthcare package that doesn’t cost your employees a huge amount of their already low salaries.

I have been working at M&T Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Not really much preasure to perform in comparison to peer banks in the industry.

    Cons

Lack of innovation has this company at least 10 years behind industry standard. Silos of structure will not dissipate as long as it continues to provide job security to those above VP. Takes years to get a project done , unless it is associated with one of the numerous federal or state reviews. Then it is a fire drill of epic proportions.

    Advice to Management

Integrate processes, starting with product management and strategies.
Invest heavily in technology to enable end to end customer sales and service delivery.
Empower customer facing employees to complete request at first contact, stop payments, name, address, etc. maintenance. ridding the company of the four layers of departments and process to complete the most simple of requests.
Pay more ( but you already know this…)

I worked at M&T Bank part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I cannot think of any pros that comes to mind at this present momemt.

    Cons

The company is very lax environment and people tend to do what they like once they are one of the favorites. The management does not know operational procedures that are required with said position. The company has you doing multiple duties outside of your job description and pays you less than your median.

    Advice to Management

    I do not have any.

    I worked at M&T Bank full-time

    Pros

Co-workers were super friendly and helpful! Most staff and trainers were available when needed.

    Cons

M&T did not implement a plan for its employees for growth within the company. Pay rate it lower than most competitors for the request work load. Also, it's very hard to request a pay increase. Only once you've provided your resignation letter upper management can negotiate pay ( to keep you). Upper managment does not take seriously your concerns or suggestions.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees! Especially your tenured employees. They have a wealth of suggestions that can help the department.
