I worked at M&T Bank (More than a year)

    Pros

    Very secure employer, good benefits

    Cons

No paid overtime, often worked 10 to 15 hours over 40 hours a week unpaid

    Advice to Management

Classify your employees fairly, not paying overtime over 40 hours is not right, puts strain on family and personal life with no compensation, the bank is profitable, it can surely pay people for their time

I worked at M&T Bank (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They have acquired many good organizations. There are many good people that work for those organizations. It is possible that you could fall into a positive experience.

    Cons

There is one culture at M&T...Bigger. Bigger. Bigger. Because of the frenzy of acquisitions, employees are constantly being shuffled. That is unsettling; People at M&T are always looking over their shoulders, waiting for the next shoe to drop.

    Advice to Management

You have some great people working for you, you should treat them with more respect. Develop a culture...Corporate culture is very important....from the top down, you have none.

I have been working at M&T Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

long term employment, Holidays off for most positions or OT rates if not

    Cons

Pay rates are a huge span, giving preference to selected new hires with background in law twice the amount of pay as a seasoned employee doing the same exact job. Otherwise, you have to 'know' someone to progress. Health insurance is known as about the worst, even medical offices voice this. Deductible HUGE and unaffordable. Most employees choose not to seek treatment.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees equally, especially long term, loyal employees, relating to pay rates, those holding similar positions and market comparison
