I have been working at M2 Telecom full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work life balance encouraged with flexible work arrangements.
Rapidly developing viable methods for getting real feedback from staff (weekly at that!) without the old hat burden of individual KPI Reviews annually

    Cons

infrastructure struggling to keep up under burden of integrating new acquisitions.
periodic surges in knowledge base loss with retrenchments following new acquisitions

    Advice to Management

Try for a while to digest what you've already taken on board before the next round of purchases before staff crumble under the load

I worked at M2 Telecom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - CBD location, close to public transport, cafe's and coffee shops
    - Good looking offices, nice decorations
    - Not the worst company I have worked for
    - Free gym membership
    - Free fruits twice a week (you will save $1 a week)
    - Free drinks after Friday 5pm (simple trick to keep people in the office till late Friday)

    Cons

    - Horrible business strategy: This company grows by acquiring smaller companies but they just want their brand names and customer base, not their employees. They simply chuck the employees to the bin.
    - If you are looking for an engineering career in telecom industry, be aware that this one is more of a a retail ISP. Majority of managers and staff are from sales/marketing/finance backgrounds and don't understand anything about the technical stuff. One might say they even look down on technical people.
    - Stingy company. Salaries very low. They don't even feel like investing money in their own infrastructure (except for furniture and decorations).

I worked at M2 Telecom (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fresh fruit Monday and Wednesday.
    Milk is provided.
Nice view towards the Yarra River on Flinders St side.
Cafe's are close by downstairs and there is an isolated court where you can smoke or just chill out from it all.
Offices are generally clean and the open space is not so massive.
Managers have lovely offices with very nice views.
Staff discount on a range of products you can take up, free GYM downstairs and a lot of other perks here and there.

    Cons

Extremely egocentric management, who love a suck up character, they just buzz off it.

You are also just a number there, as there is no job security whatsoever. Mergers or takeovers happen every 6 months, never knowing whether you will keep your job or not.

It is always about getting results at an extremely fast pace which often end up causing extreme stress and things just end up being not delivered as successful as they could have been and nothing ever gets documented and analysed in depth. Teams are also ran on a skeletal level due to cuts in order to make the books look good or for the simple fact that there is no money allocated.

Money is very stingy, both in spending it on necessary tools required and for wages in general. This is a below average pay company.

I have never found anybody speak positive about the company in general. Nobody ever looked as though this place is a place that they either love coming to work to or that they have any future in. This is purely a acquisition/merger company which then sells.

    Advice to Management

Customer satisfaction should be number one priority. Spending money on IT and infrastructure of the place as a consequence of such priority should be put in place.

All the talk of organic growth? Nobody believes in that at all. When you say something, mean it next time.

When you see a suck up, do not think this is the best person for the role. Politics belongs to politicians.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at M2 Telecom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    mostly nice people.
not a cubicle style call centre (weird pod things)
we have games and stuff for any free time you have.
    fairly laid back environment

    Cons

poor management on the call centre side with most people not having any technical knowledge, though most have people skills so that's a plus.

some teams have no direction at all and just get entire departments worth of work pushed onto them when they off shore roles and then realize they haven't got any escalation points.

Laid back environment ( leads to people just not caring about what they're doing and becoming to comfortable in what they say to each other.)

there's no where to move up or down, there are sideways movements of a kind that never stick.
the only way to get ahead is through being in the Favorited few.

    Advice to Management

realise what teams are doing what... and check you have people to cover you if you fire a whole heap of teams.

I have been working at M2 Telecom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free fruit, table tennis table in staff room, occasional gifts from the company come Christmas / Easter / Public holidays

    Cons

Very unreasonable expectations placed on you from senior management, not flexible at all and no transparency in terms of process and business decisions. You are rated not on the work you do but the numbers you deliver regardless of how you achieve them

    Advice to Management

Please fix up the current culture that prefers someone who takes 5 calls with no resolution to someone who takes 3 and fixes the issues

I worked at M2 Telecom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great way to learn about Telecom and inside sales environment.

    Cons

There will do nothing to keep you in the business at the end you are a number. Target are really high, if you lick you will make you target.

    Advice to Management

Set the right expectation with staff and create a retention program for staff that which to build a career at m2

    Pros

One of the top 5 Telecommunication companies in Australia. Going nicely, huge range of products, good management and amazing team environment.

    Cons

Some people in management only care about their dollars, they will burn you when they can. There is only 1 - 2 of these people, which spoil it for all the others.

    Advice to Management

    Don't be two faced.
