I have been working at MAA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Apartment Discount and Good Medical Benefits

    Cons

The worst part of working for MAA is that you are treated more like a number than an asset to the company. This company has a mentality that everyone can be replaced and does very little to try and retain top talent. When they give you an offer they are going to low ball you and try and add value to their bonus and commissions structure which is Unattainable. The culture is horrible and operated like wal-mart but expecting to get Neiman Marcus prices and service when they pay pennies.

I have been working at MAA full-time

    Pros

There are some remnants of intelligence within the company from Colonial and Post. On site staff is typically very enjoyable to interact with on a day to day

    Cons

MAA is one of those companies that is growing too fast without a strong staff to support it. They are acquiring competitors left and right and the quality of work is far beyond embarrassing. There is little to no follow up on issues and anytime a problem arrives it is pawned off.. wait I’m sorry i mean “escalated” to various departments without any resolution. They do not value their employees and are constantly focused on their own bottom line. Working for MAA is a stereotypical job where you are treated like a number. They also have incredibly poor communication... they send out daily “what’s new” e-blasts but they never contain any relevant information to changes in leases, policy, etc. i guess they’re a great source if you want to know everyone’s birthday??

I worked at MAA for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Not much... Post was great!

    Cons

Being acquired by MAA in 2016. The culture at MAA is non-existent outside of pandering vendors to sponsor everything (team lunches, events, conferences). Upper Management resolves issues that could have been avoided with LISTENING to their employees by instead throwing money at the last minute to try and accomplish what they want. CEO and Executives don't have a clue of what's going on outside of the charade visits that are staged every quarter for them.
