I worked at MAC Cosmetics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Amazing discount, super high energy, always busy, never a dull moment, so many talented artists

    Cons

Extreme sales goals, attention to those who work so hard and often go unnoticed. It's about who you know not how well you do your job.

    Advice to Management

You will loose amazing artists and dedicated workers if you don't pay attention.

I have been working at MAC Cosmetics part-time

    Pros

Discount, training, hands on, business training, gratis, pay is good,

    Cons

scheduling, stressful, overworking somedays, better work/life balance,

    Advice to Management

Treat your tenured employees well, in turn your business will double maybe even triple if all of the employees have a good life/work balance and aren't feeling like you don't care about them. Also If you're going to start cutting positions because stores aren't making plan, don't hire new ones right before cutting someone who's worked longer and was a extremely hard worker.

I have been working at MAC Cosmetics (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They offer a Great discount, paid vacation and paid sick time. You also get to go to quarterly update trainings.

    Cons

Hard to get time off (requests must be submitted 2 months in advance), hard to get in contact with upper management, remote location makes it hard to advance with company.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a better work life balance. Every one deserves a weekend off here and there. It would be nice if there was a rotating schedule.

    Pros

Definitely a better artist and salesperson because of MAC. It was a dream job for me, and working freelance allowed me to have freedom in my personal life.

    Cons

Not as many hours as I was expecting to receive. There are so many freelancers, and sometimes you won't be working for weeks at a time.

    Pros

Inspiring environment for those that are pursuing a career as Makeup Artists. Fun perks, great team-building opportunities as well as opportunity to grow with the company.

    Cons

Inconsistency with scheduling, long hours, can tend to be understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Better compensation and schedule flexibility (work/life balance) would help motivate the staff environment.

I worked at MAC Cosmetics part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a fun fast paced environment that is never dull. It can feel like a party almost every shift.

    Cons

The management get away with illegal things because they don't tell you the full truth. The system is outdated and you get dinged for things outside your control.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and treat them with respect. Be there for them, and they'll go above and beyond for you.

I worked at MAC Cosmetics full-time

    Pros

Building connections with peers (on store level), working face to face with customers. Adequate training for improving artistry skills. i learned a lot about myself as an individual and what my capabilities are.

    Cons

retail schedule, not flexible with vacations, days off. not enough training/coaching for management staff. feel overworked and under appreciated. work/life balance is almost impossible.

I worked at MAC Cosmetics full-time

    Pros

The benefits are remarkable and the artists/products speak for themselves

    Cons

Creatively speaking, everyone is required to stay within his or her narrow lane. As a result, the office culture can be incredibly competitive and caddy across team, with more time spent in-fighting than developing.
