I worked at MAC Cosmetics part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, awesome discount, really challenges your artistry to make you a better makeup artist.

    Cons

Some of the execs are rude, poor management, no weekends off and minimal opportunity for growth if you're at a counter.

    Advice to Management

Don't make false promises and don't promote people who are incapable of doing their job correctly.

    Pros

MAC is an amazing company. It always is training an updating the artists, and it has a very firm charity drive in it's Viva Glam Program.

    Cons

I don't have anything bad to say about the company. You must be skilled and able to work an eight hour day doing makeup as well as management tasks.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that tenured employees are given their due respect.

    Pros

MAC is a fun and exciting workplace. Very diverse and some of the best training ever. very rewarding.

    Cons

Very hard for working mothers to juggle career & family life.

    Advice to Management

Please be considerate of single mothers specially with children who have medical needs, when mothers need time off to care for family.managers could definitely offer more support out on the floor and take one day out of the week for their paperwork instead of doing it everyday and not being out on the counter helping to keep a good vibe and sales momentum going.

    Pros

Working at MAC will be an amazing part of your career, whether your just beginning your makeup journey or have been in the industry a while. This company will send you to paid training (w/ lunch) to demo and learn about new upcoming beauty products, fashion week inspired looks and trends in the beauty industry. You will have the opportunity to learn from MAC senior artists from all over the world or technique classes at a location near you. You do receive gratis when a new launch is coming out, paid vacation and holidays. You will get paid every Friday, employee discount is 60% off, also get two EMS purchases a year(200 pt, 400 ft). This company will let you be creative through your makeup, hair color and style. I would recommend this company to anyone who has a passion for makeup, willing to work hard and go above and beyond for your clients all while giving them a beautiful makeup look or brand new makeup they're looking forward to put to use.

    Cons

You basically will work every Friday and or Saturday. Holidays will be the busiest time of the year. Team work is a must, you have to communicate and be held accountable for you lt actions or the day will be awkward and the team will have tension.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the team is held accountable for actions, duties and inspiring the team.

    - Company plays favorites
-High sales goals and booking goals

    Pros

Celebrate individuality! Celebrate growth and advancement!!! Empower people daily!!! Extensive training and development. The MAC AIDS FUND is a phenomenal program!

    Cons

Truthfully, work-life balance is a constant opportunity. Retail and personal time really are an oxymoron. However, I'm sure with more attention to the matter some solution will be found in time.

    Advice to Management

Continue developing the artists that want to grow. Possibly allow Artists 1 weekend off per month just like management. Rotating the weekends may assist with the work/life balance dynamic.
