I worked at MARQUIS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The underlying business is good, and there are many good people that work there.

    Cons

Management is inept, resulting in high turnover and lack of continuity. Rather than developing logical solutions, they offer empty platitudes. The drudgery is exacerbated by below-market compensation.

I worked at MARQUIS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great opportunity in the financial department.

    Cons

Poor processes and high-stress are burning out employees. Change in ownership didn't encourage experienced employees to stay and discouraged new employees.

I worked at MARQUIS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They've put some good money into good technologies. I'm marking career opportunities as a 2 star and not a 1 because when you have so many people leave the company, opportunities tend to open up. This... is NOT a good thing.

    Cons

Leadership constantly lies to employees. One moment they'll say they're committed to something, and the next minute they go a complete 180 on it. Leadership doesn't plan well and they end up putting the excess work from the failure to plan on the employees rather than taking ownership, re-evaluating, and fixing the issue. Some leaders talk a lot of negative about the company to employees, while pretending they're innocent, then they return to senior leadership to say those comments came from the employees. The hypocrisy is off the charts. Benefits have gotten worse and worse since Falfurrias acquired Marquis and DocuMatix. DocuMatix used to be an incredible company. Leaders said they'd be keeping the best parts of each company, but have ended up gutting both. Employees tend to not give any notice when they leave because leadership has given no reason for employees to respect this horrible company.

    I worked at MARQUIS

    Pros

Great owners and managers. They give you a lot of exposure to clients early on in your career. Training is very good. Loved my manager.

    Cons

I wish the pay was higher. The office has a very casual atmosphere that sometimes leads to people taking advantage of the dress code.

I worked at MARQUIS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A lot of friendly people, and generally very helpful. There are no doors on the offices (except for senior management), so you see a lot of spontaneous project meetings taking place in the halls which is kind of fun. Everyone you meet is going to be pretty nice. There are some real rock stars who are going above and beyond for the clients. Big shout outs to Data, Support, and Creative! You guys were the best!

    Cons

Despite the very friendly environment, there are some cons: 1. Equipment is sub-standard. Most everything is purchased second hand, and will be pretty out of date. Getting new equipment is also difficult as well (servers, monitors, memory). This applies to software as well, and updates are slow. 2. There is a lot of miscommunication and mixed messages. Want to know how to do something? Ask five people and you'll get five different answers. There is no clear ownership of anything. 3. This builds off of two: consultants are very protective of their clients, so even if you get a firm answer on a methodology - if the consultant has promised something else, you'll have to change everything to accommodate. This makes it impossible to put any automation or programming solutions into place for handling projects. 4. Personal growth and compensation are completely absent. Whatever you get offered (which will be below whatever the local market pays on average) will be what you get paid for your entire time at Marquis. They claim they have a “flat” organization, and what that means is that there is no career growth. 5. The 401k fund is managed by the same people who own the company - which I thought was a tad odd. Do they collect fees off your "benefit?" Additionally, the only offer medical - and the plan is fairly basic. It is about equivalent to what is offered by most retail establishments. If possible, use a spouses insurance coverage.
