I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits to working with Maximus was the paid holidays off, the location in downtown Chicago, and the experience working towards helping families. It's was a great platform to expand my skills. The experience and knowledge I did gain led me to a better opportunity elsewhere.

    Cons

The majority of the management team was anything but professional. This specific project was like high school. There was a lot of gossip regarding which co-workers were sleeping together, who wore what, and why things are done the way they were.

    Advice to Management

Seriously consider treating your employees with respect. Just because they don't qualify to get paid minimum wage doesn't mean they don't have anything to offer.

    Pros

They have a great staff and I had great managers. The hours are mostly regular business hours. The pay is good. They provide paid training.

    Cons

I worked through a staffing agency and you could be a temp for a really long time without getting hired permanently.

    Advice to Management

I loved all my supervisors and wouldn't change anything about them.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Maximus insures each employee a salary even if it means moving from project to project. MAXIMUS prefers not to see any employee without work.

    Cons

Sometimes I MAXIMUS can't keep every employee due to changes in contracts of the projects.

    Advice to Management

Make your temporary employees permanent after 1 year of service.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Maximus is an international corporation that works to assist clients in finding the most comprehensive health care services, and assist in finding primary doctors and specialists according to the clients needs. as an employee, the company provides good pay and employee benefits.

    Cons

The company provides contract only employment which may lead to the termination of job positions; which consistently changes, upon the clients demands.

I have been working at MAXIMUS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I love that I work downtown and in the summer I get to eat lunch outside.

    Cons

Too many to name so I will keep it short
First of all the training is horrible. All you do is read a bunch of material. Also if you have a supervisor call they do everything to avoid getting on the phone. There is no communication between departments. For example we do not know how long it takes for the verification department to verify documents nor do we know their process. 90% of the company is under contract. I've seen someone work there for 2 years and they just became permanent.

You should only work here if you plan on being there less than 6 months. Also if you have an MBA be prepared to be grossly underpaid. Lastly, if you ever see they are hiring for other positions within the company, be prepared for the possibility of being demoted.

    Advice to Management

    -Compensate accordingly
-Offer incentives since you cannot benefits
-There should be communication between departments

    Pros

Easy phone job. All you had to do was answer the phone and read a script.

    Cons

Every second of your day was watched and reviewed by upper management. If you took too long on a call or too much time in the bathroom you get fired.

    Advice to Management

I did a great job but got fired because my phone was not connected to the customer survey line at the end of a call. It showed I had zero so I got an email telling me not to come in fired with no chance for an explanation. Who fired a human being by email.
