I worked at MAXIMUS as a contractor

    Pros

I enjoy doing data entry roles, especially involving the medical field. Also, the location of the building is great! There are so many different stores around and the city of Folsom has some beautiful sites.

    Cons

The computers always seem to have a problem and there is not enough ventilation in the big room. During my last project, there were many people who came to work sick and in return caused a mass amount of the employees sick. I strongly believe it spread so fast due to the lack of ventilation in that room.

    Advice to Management

I can't speak for all of the management staff, but the supervisors that I have worked under did't usually know how to answer the questions I had, it seemed like they should have been put through better training. I found it more valuable to inquire information from my coworkers sitting around me than it was to get my supervisor's attention.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The office was generally very quiet and we were allowed to listen to music via headphones. Decent pay, especially for those with little to no office experience.

    Cons

Contradictory work instructions. Several supervisors very intent on micromanaging.

    Advice to Management

Train your supervisors better. Resolve discrepancies in existing work instruction and develop instruction for ALL possible scenarios.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent reputation, some deep long term industry knowledge

    Cons

Contract employment, rate pressures inhibit reasonable salary increases, just know that Maximus is driven like their competitors to low bid

    Advice to Management

You really don't know what and who your employees know. Get to know who works for you. Don't treat new hires with talent and knowledge as hired guns, then let them go.
