I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy to get in, easy to advance. Coworkers are nice, and you can move around both internally in departments and geographically from project to project.

    Cons

Stringent standards can be overbearing. Approaches employee management with a one size fits all approach which can be kinda frustrating.

I worked at MAXIMUS as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked on two projects here. I really enjoyed the position as an Eligibility Specialist. It paid $15 an hour, and the second project paid the same. I enjoyed the people I worked with and was able to work a lot of overtime. Since the first project did not require a phone, they allowed us to listen to music with head phones. The work was satisfying, but procedures changed constantly. Most people here are temporary employees, and pay will vary according to the project which may end eventually. There are other more long term projects, but the pay was either $13 or $11 an hour. Attendance is the #1 factor for getting moved to a new project.

    Cons

Definitely the working conditions. When the building is fully staffed be prepared to wait in line for the bathroom. It is rare to have a cubicle, so you may be sitting in close proximity to other people which makes it difficult to hear when you are on the phone. They crammed a lot of people into one large room. Parking can also be a challenge.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great schedule, easy work load, easy and paid training. Great starter positions offered for those looking to build up their resumes and build up work references.

    Cons

Point system for tardiness, sickness, no arrival, weather issues. Hard to gain promotional opportunities due to micro-management issues. You hardly see upper management as they are not located in NYS.

    Advice to Management

    Change the point system.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Having worked at Maximus offered a great learning experience with respect to enrollment in Medicaid HMO's. To helping Medicaid recipients with enrollment to lodging complaints about non-covered services to denied NEMT trips it became gratifying. The New York Medicaid CHOICE team and trainers are helpful but there is an expectation to get the gist of the job. With sufficiently positive QA scores the opportunity to work from home is offered.

    Cons

Having to work Saturdays sucks. Late shift sucks. The elevator to the left center sucks. The J train sucks.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management is to keep up the good work and continue to foster the friendly environment.
