I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a large company, so in theory, there are a lot of opportunities to grow. They are in a position to offer a whole suite of benefits to their employees. The company has grown a lot in the last ten years, in part because of the trend towards shedding public functions to private contractors. So there can be opportunities for growth in the right positions. Other positions have people in the same job, even when the contract was controlled by another contractor.

    Cons

Managers on the whole are professional but seem a bit defensive. The interaction between inferiors and superiors, at almost ever level, appears to be awkward. This suggest to me a subtle sense of insecurity for most of the managers at most of the levels. This probably is not unusual in the American workplace today. Though the economy is improving, people have no real job security, even managers, ergo, the insecurity, awkwardness and sense of defensiveness.

    Advice to Management

At the highest level, they have to make a commitment to the stability of the careers of the people underneath them. I'm sure it's news to some high level managers, but people don't do their best work when they are worried about things like instability in their careers.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Fair (not great) wages.
Reasonable attendance and time off policy
    Actual opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Working in a government contract for disadvantaged populations, work can sometimes be depressing.

The quality assurance team and ranking system can lead someone to believe they are doing a lot worse than they are.

Most people who work here aren't excited to work here.

    Advice to Management

    Take employee feedback seriously.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent building, nice break room.

    Cons

Lack of training, lack of overall communication, no room for upward growth, insulting raises. Corporate culture is slow, ineffective, and doesn't care about its workers. They do not reward their best achievers as they properly should.

    Advice to Management

Investigate harassment claims. Investigate sexual harassment claims. Investigate your manager's racial biases.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great diverse people, good way to learn policy and regulations for the State client the company is contracted with.

    Cons

Low pay, too many upper managements for Example 7 directors and 3 VP for company with 5 Departments??? Get the picture. Average increase less than .24 a year mean while CEO is considered one of highest paying CEO in US.

    Advice to Management

Put the money towards entry level people to get better employees and pay not the people you recruits from very low income citizens who still have to get state benefits to stay float with pay check from Maximus which pays only twice a month.
