I have been working at MCG part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strength in District Management; Clear directions from top down; You can set your own schedule (within parameters); I meet different people each time I report to a new opportunity; Work is Fun, and you can immediately see your results.

    Cons

You really work on your own. It is rare that you see Upper Management. Some assignments really take far more time than you are allowed to take.

    Advice to Management

Allow a bit more flexibility (if possible), when it's apparent a store will take longer than anticipated. Other than that, great job, and keep those Opportunities coming! Thank you

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at MCG part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The most easiest job ever. The company titles you Merchandiser but you're really a helping hands worker. Worked at Macy's HSQ location so you don't have to abide by that horrible all black dress code. Your pretty much on your own and don't have Macy's management hovering over your shoulders. You know what I mean if you've ever worked for Macy's

    Cons

Not enough hours available. You literally only get about 30-40 hours a month. Becomes very boring and tedious at this point your dying to take on any other task besides folding and folding all day. They say they only want ppl with prior merchandising experience which is an insult because anyone can do this job and learn it in 5 minutes. Other assignments are supposed to be posted on a calendar online but never seems to be any opportunities posted. I sure as heck had never seen any. Reached out to Supervisor about other assignments and never heard back from her. It's been months now. Oh and you only get paid twice a month not biweekly 2 times a month. So even though the rate of pay is 14/hr your check looks like minimum wage pay.

    Advice to Management

In your interviews with Marina she says other assignments are always available when the holidays are over such as coffee demonstrators and whatnot but she does not reply nor are there ever any opportunities posted in the natural insight calendar.

I have been working at MCG part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of long lasting relationships both within the company and at our retail doors
    Lots of flexibility
I know lots of excellent very strong professionals that work here and would be happy to recommend the company to anyone

    Cons

It is retail related and you are doing work for outside companies
meaning that MCG can try to get contracts etc... but the retail calendar and the vagaries of economics are the real driving force behind how much work we have

I have been working at MCG part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees are paid regularly and website is user friendly. Guidelines are somewhat clear but still not all materials are covered.

    Cons

Management is rude and uncaring about you as an employee. My father died and I needed to take time off to deal with family matters. I was told three (3) days was the time allotted for a parents' passing.

    Advice to Management

Please put yourself in the employees shoes. I was told by management that there was always someone else that could be hired to take my place. Likewise, someone else can be hired to take your place.
