I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time

    Pros

The benefits and bring part of a team who is there to end cancer

    Cons

Management for the patient Escort department is never on the same page. They're always changing rules and make work unpleasant.

    Advice to Management

The job itself is easy , but can be very tiring. The management in this department needs to take their employees in consideration and acknowledge our hard work.

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Its a good place to be employed with competitive salary, good benefits flexible hours and generally decent people to work with.

    Cons

Top Management are awful business people so every few years the organization goes thru a fiscal crisis of its own making.
They tend to promote and hire people that are not particularity competent, that way they are not a threat to jobs of the people who hired them.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about your jobs and building your little fiefdoms and hire competent people, they will make you look good!

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easier to get foot in the door in a management position than other places. I now have two years of management experience at a very recognizable institution, looks good on resume.

    Cons

Pay less than industry average. Upper management is a bit of a mess. The whole institution is in a bad financial situation which has raised doubts about the future of the department.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent. Honestly, you could cut the bottom 10% of the whole department and be just fine. Plenty of under achievers that are receiving the same (crappy) raises that the hard workers are. Cut 10%, give everyone else a 5% raise today and the production of the department wouldn't suffer after a bit of adjustment.

I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, talent of the Physicians and Scientists

    Cons

I was essentially laid off/fired for having an asthma flare up in the lab that contained leaking chemicals. Date was also backdated, I'm assuming to protect their interests.

    Advice to Management

None, my former manager was rightfully fired.
