I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large patient volume and funding resources as well as access to tissues. High concentration of brilliant minds and world experts in cancer research within MD Anderson and the TMC.

    Cons

Huge institution makes for lots of red tape, restrictions and rigidity. Things can take forever to happen, both research and career-wise because of bureaucracy.

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Positive changing culture from silos to more inclusive and collaborative. Great benefit package. Competitive salary. Fantastic mission and reason to come to work every day.

    Cons

Senior leaders are excellent, but treat middle-management on a "need to know" basis sometimes. Have to pay to park. Hard to really achieve a true work-life balance. This is possibly a healthcare thing as opposed to MDA though.

    Advice to Management

Be thoughtful and decisive quickly. Do not let big decisions involving change linger too long. Try and let your decisions stand, and not be in constant change-mode.
