    Pros

    Cutting edge, making huge strides in cancer research, patient-centered care, excellent staff, excellent benefits and pay, Magnet Status, #1 cancer hospital in the WORLD!

    Cons

    very busy, sometimes understaffed but people usually work really well as a team during those times, i prefer set schedules rather than rolling schedules

    Advice to Management

    talk to your nurses (not just the nursing leadership) to discover how to best serve them and equip them to take care of patients well

    Pros

    Patient ratios for RNs are optimal 2-3-4.
    Opportunities to get involved in your practice (shared governance)
    Tuition assistance for your MSN
    Money for certifications, professional organizations, classes available.
    Overall excellent team work from all roles.
    Opportunities to transfer internally.

    Cons

    Hospital has current financial problems. Not sure if there will be layoffs.
    Similar to anywhere, its a demanding job and not everyone gives it their best.
    Large slow moving organization (bureaucratic).
    Many excellent managers of nursing units. Some not so good.

    Awesome client to work with and to see how they put PATIENT CARE 1st. Truly humbling experience for me while on project.

    There are no "cons" while at MD Anderson.

    Safety is top priority. Professional development is also a top priority for MD Anderson Cancer Center. Many opportunities within the institution.

    No diversity. MD Anderson needs to do more cross training.
