    Pros

The benefits are really good and numerous positions available for all levels. Number 1 cancer hospital. Fitness center free for employees.

    Cons

Research departments strong, but some patient care departments need improvement. Prone to budget cuts and lay offs despite being so reputable.

    Advice to Management

Know your employees and keep in mind patient care is number one priority.

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This is a great company with lots of wonderful benefits (good compensation, medical benefits, TRS, leave time). All employees have a positive outlook at work and create a friendly atmosphere. It really feels like we are all a team. I would recommend this place to anyone.

    Cons

With recent layoffs, some are worried about job stability.

I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The doctors are encouraged to do research. They are very dedicated to research and curing cancer. I believe they'll succeed.

    Cons

They need to be more coordinated with budgeting and employee headcount. Parking is expensive and there's a 2 yr. long waiting list for a garage spot.

    Advice to Management

Why hire hundreds in 2016 and lay them off in 2017?

I worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Retirement package, TRS much better than 401K, keeps your money growing and not really affected by a stock market. The company matches your contribution, vested after 5yrs of service. Medical benefit if free if you're single, means don't include your family, but it still has a co-pay.

    Cons

Some of the managers (not all of them) are lazy and greedy, they are not working but enjoy the higher salary. They look nice, but when someone complaint to make improvements for the patients and the workers, they said they will but they don't do it at all.
The HR people are very unorganized, lack of communications. When the nurses and other allied healths served the patient well as a customer, then they must serve us well too as their customers.

    Advice to Management

The president and top managements should listen to us, making improvements for the patient services and good working conditions for healthcare worker. If necessary they need to kick out those lazy managers/directors.

    Pros

Great benefits. Excellent office facilities. Noble mission. Good compensation. Friendly co-workers. Lots of good, honest work to be done here.

    Cons

Poor hiring practices, especially for management positions. Some managers and directors are abusive of their staff and do not know how to manage people or projects. Chronic understaffing in certain areas, especially in the IS division. Upper management in complete chaos.

    Advice to Management

Try to better understand the portfolio of services that you are trying to manage. Recruit and then retain high quality staff. Provide extra scrutiny for people hired into manager (and above) positions.
