I have been working at MDI IT Workforce Solutions full-time

    Pros

Great energy and collaboration across teams. Look forward to growing and learning alongside fun, dedicated professionals.

    Cons

As sourcing specialized IT skill sets become increasingly difficult, MDI Group is positioned for success as its Workforce Solutions become more relevant in a highly competitive industry.

I worked at MDI IT Workforce Solutions full-time

    Pros

There are some good people that unfortunately work here

    Cons

    Too many to list.
Biggest criticism would probably be the qualifications of the upper management. They think they are big shots, when in reality the company will probably not exist in ten years as they continue to steer the ship towards the iceberg.

    Advice to Management

Force the CEO out. She is clueless.

I have been working at MDI IT Workforce Solutions full-time

    Pros

None I feel sorry for those who are stuck here. There are many nice people who work here. None in the leadership track outside of the Managing Directors. The C level is completely over its ski's

    Cons

Many. The leadership has no idea what it's doing. Look at the lack of growth for several years running. MSP is a joke and most of the leadership wants to leave but can't. The CEO has zero business running this company

    Advice to Management

Sell and get out while you have some worth. You are on a sinking ship

    Pros

The people, commission structure, hours, and flexibility.

    Cons

There are seriously very few negative. It is not like the Tek Systems and Robert Halfs of the world that work you to the bone for a mediocre commission structure.

I have been working at MDI IT Workforce Solutions (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A big pro used to be Richey Brownfield, the prior CEO. He is missed!
As in any company, there are a treasure trove of special people who make it work, every day. Those folks are absolutely terrific.

    Cons

Mediocrity and insular management (long, tenured) will continue to lead to stagnancy in thinking, in client and business development, and in providing superior account management.

For such a small company (</= 80 nonbillable employees) the upper management is secretive with company planning and uninvolved in employee development. They seem to be on a constant hunt for the perfect sales tool or online training system that will eliminate the need for them to coach and build their employees directly - not that they do now, unless absolutely necessary.

Their sales strategy is to create sales superstars by recruiting for pre-identified traits (not bad in and of itself). But their singular focus on the recognition and reward of their stars salespeople, to the striking neglect of slightly less succesful sales players and client interfacing operational folks, they have created a siloed business model, incapable of thinking laterally, and illequipped to adapt to the changing market place.

    Advice to Management

Throw out your once a year anonymous employee surveys as the only means of soliciting employee feedback. Why? Because these are more likely pent-up complaints with forgotten particulars and little incentive for them to be constructive.
If you aren't able to discuss concerns as they arise, in real time and face to face, employees will feel frustrated and resentful. By the time they take the anonymous survey they will have lost context, reason, or incentive to even help the company to change or improve. So, if your branch managers aren't having those conversations and resolving issues with their teams on a regular basis, then they are either overworked, underutilized, or untrained. As much as they are paid, this seems like a very expensive oversight!
