I have been working at MEGA Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work/life balance is pretty great. There is generally a great opportunity for travel because they're an international company.

    Cons

Huge disconnect between local branches and headquarters, you get the feel of that "stereotypical corporate culture". It doesn't seem like a company you could grow passionate for. Upper-level staff seems to look down on lower-level staff.

    Advice to Management

Have a better communication flow between staff and senior management.

I worked at MEGA Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    It's the toy industry!
A big company with many things to learn from various departments
Most people were just nice, easy going, and great to work with.
CEO was doing his best and did a great job despite a hugely disorganized upper management.

    Cons

I got laid off during my parental leave... Says a lot about the company!
Super micro management from VPs created endless delays which in return VPs blamed the teams for
Employees were never considered more than purely expendable expenses
Upper management did not know much about management... but surely knew about seven figures salaries
Money was always an issue when bonus time came. But on the following day after being told by the execs there would be no bonus that year, the CIO arrived with a $250,000 brand new Lamborghini... Says a lot too.
In the first three months I was there, I had to put over 100 hours of overtime because execs wanted to do everyone's job and did not trust each expert's... expertise!

    Advice to Management

None. They sold the company and left with the money.

I have been working at MEGA Brands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are awesome! Some opportunity to express your ideas and create really great things. Half day Fridays are great and the atmosphere is mostly relaxed.

    Cons

The pay is not competitive and there is very little room for growth. Most moving up in the company is through networking and your hard work usually goes unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Value employees that work hard and produce great results. Give them more credit and appreciation. HR should look deeper into market research for competitive compensation if that's something they truly stand for.
