I have been working at MEGA Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of toys lying around. Great if you have kids. You can buy them at discounted prices.
Lots of people from different backgrounds.

    Cons

Nepotism rules and how long the person has been there. Not competence.
Just look at some executives. Some have never worked anywhere else before and fear new ideas from outside because they have never been "outside". Hopefully Mattel can do some "cleanup" and bring new people with fresh ideas in.

    Advice to Management

The brands looks very limited & dated.
Mattel should consider doing some "refreshing" of ideas.

I have been working at MEGA Brands full-time

    Pros

Fun if you love toys, the people who work here are friendly, although not a massive community feeling.

    Cons

The building is very bad, and it's the worst part about working here.

    Advice to Management

pls make a better work environment and do a better job listening to your employees and making work more engaging and respectful.

    Pros

Health benefits start from first day of work, fun activities, good environment to learn from different departments.

    Cons

Management can be a bit clique-y, it's hard to socialize with them if you're not at the same level.

I worked at MEGA Brands full-time

    Pros

Great products and excellent support staff. Competitive pay and benefits.
Brand with a great reputation and recognition.

    Cons

Upper management direction tended to be unclear and many times during rough times at the company moral was really low and everyone afraid for their jobs.

    Advice to Management

More clear communication and transparency with the employees especially when a public statement is released. It's a bit unnerving learning more about your company through the press that internally.

I worked at MEGA Brands full-time

    Pros

You work with very creative people and most are up beat. Most of the time it keeps you on your toes and theres always work to keep one busy. The products and licenses are always fun to develop and work with.

    Cons

Long hours. Most weeks you'll work 40-50 hours. It's frowned upon if you actually want to work an 8 hour day, and they make you feel it. Very clique-ish and a few managers support that indirectly. They shifted managers and added some. There are far too many chefs in the kitchen and it wears everyone down with mixed commands. As an employee you WILL do the job of 2-3 people if not more, everyone there does.

    Advice to Management

Support any and all employees and bring back SOME the olders ones that left. They were hard workers despite certain management efforts to set them up for fail.

I have been working at MEGA Brands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are awesome! Some opportunity to express your ideas and create really great things. Half day Fridays are great and the atmosphere is mostly relaxed.

    Cons

The pay is not competitive and there is very little room for growth. Most moving up in the company is through networking and your hard work usually goes unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Value employees that work hard and produce great results. Give them more credit and appreciation. HR should look deeper into market research for competitive compensation if that's something they truly stand for.
