I have been working at METRO Cash & Carry full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent work culture with strong focus on results delivered the right way. All old sins of the past have been tackled head-on by current management. So a lot of old timers who were cheating the company are either complaining as their dirty game is up or have been asked to leave the company.

    Cons

Pressure to perform as the company is focused on driving profitable sales. Easy low margin sales are discouraged by management.

    Advice to Management

Ignore all the naysayers and continue the clean-up. There is a huge cultural transformation in the last 12 months and the stores are looking much better. The Supplier Conference has been a huge success. Business is on the right path under the leadership of Arvind and we must diligently walk on this path.

I worked at METRO Cash & Carry full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro this company can boast about is the fact that they are an MNC headquartered in Germany.

    Cons

    - Horrible work culture. There is no respect for any employee's skills whatsoever. They will make you work the way they want to, without regards to what you are capable of. The India business is highly mismanaged and 'compliance' is something only on paper. No processes are followed and efficiency obviously takes a hit. Do not expect any work-life balance if you take up a job here. You will be better off taking up a low paying job that gives you respect rather than working here.

    Advice to Management

Get your processes in order. Do not focus on only making yourself profitable by ignoring the other intangible aspects of the company. You need to rethink your corporate strategy, or there aren't going to be any employees left in your organization.

I worked at METRO Cash & Carry full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to know how brick and mortar industry works and how German companies work. 9 to 5 job.

    Cons

If you dont belong to retail industry, dont even think of joining METRO. Their culture is the worst among companies I worked. Most of the employees in Bangalore Head Quarters are North Indians and they clearly biased towards the same race. Disgusting. They will isolate you if you are not from their places. Over paid KAMs, Senior Managers, MDs. All these folks will suffer big time once retail goes completely online. HR doesnt care about building a team but keep boosting it as great place to work. All their great place to work rankings are manipulated. They come after you and demand to give positive feedback.

    Advice to Management

Please build some good environment before you project yourself as great employer.
