I worked at MGM Grand Hotel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You certainly don't get bored as every day and sometimes every shift is different. You have the entire MGM Resorts portfolio of restaurants and show properties to utilize in sales.

    Cons

Virtually no forgiveness for any customer complaint even if the customer was unreasonable. New management of front office did not give the line staff much help.

    Advice to Management

Any employee can be gotten rid of and too often people who would question how things were done or asked that improvements be done were soon shown the door.

I have been working at MGM Grand Hotel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Offers set schedule for full time employees, and flexible scheduling for part time employees.
    Paid hour lunch break.
Great benefits: Medical, dental, vision for full-time and part-time. 401K option. Tuition reimbursement.
Opportunities to move up in the company, and gain experience from other departments.

    Cons

Lunch is provided, but several employees have become ill after eating in the 'employee dining room'.
Company has recently begun to push Concierge staff to recommend MGM resorts venues only, and monitor our bookings to reinforce this new policy; this push restricts the Concierge from recommending other venues (non-MGM Resorts) that offer quality service for our guests.
Company culture is decreasing, and it is noticeable in several departments. An emphasis on profit over the guest experience is becoming the priority.

    Advice to Management

Maintain consistent policy reinforcement for all employees within the department; favoritism is often noticed and decreases overall morale.
Provide extensive support to Concierge staff when necessary instead of making assumptions that issues will clear up without needed attention and observation.

    Pros

    Good Pay and Good Benefits.

    Cons

Zero Work/Life Balance This is one of the tre 24/7/365 operations industries and you can count on missing every important event outside of work, Upper Management is stuck trying to keep what they have instead of growing and improving. Really out of their depth.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking from hourly employees to keep revenue static. Try to actually grow and perhaps leave the old days behind.

that drink too much and Don't now what no means in any case.

I worked at MGM Grand Hotel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You're in the middle of all the action in the town week in and week out. The hits never stop.

    Cons

The tradition of this hotel is one of constant manager turnover. Good jobs don't get rewarded. Rewards are given to followers, not leaders.

    Advice to Management

Don't give lip service to positive kpi's. Personalities differences aren't grounds for terminations and you can't monetize being a sycophant.

    Pros

Structure, friendly people, diversity, free meals, career options... and so much more...

    Cons

When placing employees with trainers, try to make sure that all the trainers are teaching information consistent to one another and that "bad habits" do not rub off on trainees. I understand that all employees have a different way of doing things, but having a bad attitude about the hotel, hotel guests, management or doing things incorrectly can rub off on impressionable newbies.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees more often on a one-on-one basis. Makes employees feel like you care and this will help you get a better feel for what is going on!

I have been working at MGM Grand Hotel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The pay is very reasonable.

    Cons

    The hours are very poor.

    Advice to Management

It is the mindset of the workers that the sales team is only finding enough business to ensure their employment, and are not striving to enrich the company or to bring the workers more hours.
