I worked at MGM Resorts International full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits Human Resources Hours of Operation

    Cons

Little promotion from within Low pay compared to same job at other organizations in LV HR Leaders don't stick up for employees HR Leaders who are very unaware of the actual work being done One way communication - top down only

    Advice to Management

HR leaders need to learn what work is being done by their own employees. HR leaders need to stop thinking that their "next hire" is going to fix everything. The problem lies within the HR leadership its self.

I worked at MGM Resorts International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Amazing Vegas experiences were often part of the job. Many good people. Nice offices. Comps were nice.

    Cons

Worked to death- 15 hour days not uncommon. Very low pay. Some extremely terrible executive behavior enabled by and ultimately swept under the rug by HR. If you’re in the right department, you can have a good life. If you’re in others, your life is hell. Lots of political game-playing, as opposed to people just doing good work with each other.

    Advice to Management

When someone comes to HR with multiple real grievances that you verify, protect the people who come forward and fire the executive causing problems. By valuing the squeaky wheel you lose lots of talented people who are excited about the company. Pay people what they’re worth.

    Pros

Large company with benefits, the company has great initiatives for its employees and with just minor improvements would be a wonderful company to work for

    Cons

Somewhat low pay for the increasing cost of living in vegas, management more concerned with their individual promotions than helping everyone to be the best

    Advice to Management

Develop your team, coach, listen... its how to you can improve yourself and others

I worked at MGM Resorts International full-time

    Pros

I really liked all of my colleagues including upper management. The job itself was fairly easy if you showed up on time and did your work. Also great health benefits and 401k.

    Cons

Long hours spent on your feet and low pay. My job should’ve been compensated at least $50,000 per year starting out based on hours and job requirements. The employees I was managing were an absolute nightmare because they were protected by the Union. It was essentially babysitting because they knew they didn’t have to listen to you.

    Advice to Management

Pay managers for their work appropriately and don’t constantly change their schedules so they can get a normal amount of sleep between long shifts.
