I have been working at MHC Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Camaraderie, well-run, dynamic, growing, compassionate staff, innovative staff,

    Cons

With growth comes growing pains; administrative functions need to keep up with extensive growth on the clinical side. Without such, stresses develop within the system.

    Advice to Management

Focus on growing administrative functions and hiring key staff to keep up with growth.

I have been working at MHC Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great culture among long-term employees.

    Cons

No Chief of Behavioral Health allows Operations to be the Tail-That-Wags-the-Dog. Compensation below the 15th percentile. Productivity instead of outcomes driven.

    Advice to Management

    Introduce yourself.

    Pros

I really enjoyed the people that I worked with

    Cons

Aside from the obvious micromanagement I feel that some times the "worker bees" were not always heard. Productivity was sometimes hard to make due to situations out of the employees control.

    Advice to Management

You can't take the wheels off of a car and expect it to go.

I have been working at MHC Healthcare (More than a year)

    Pros

Management, when asked. would do whatever they could to help you with what ever you needed

    Cons

Very high needs community of patients, non compliance, with little or no income, make up majority of patient load

    Advice to Management

They are federally funded, however the workload of this particular patient demographic, should have a salary that is more competitive with Family Practice clinics in Tucson.

I have been working at MHC Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is an emphasis on patient care and employees can also receive care here. In addition, a $500.00 credit is available each year for employees to use towards healthcare costs (only to be used for MHC services). There are SOME great staff and leaders at MHC. Super impressed with the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jenitza Serrano.

    Cons

While there are a few great leaders and managers at MHC, there are more that aren't great. Staff are treated inconsistently; it depends who you are, who you report to, etc. There is a severe divide between teams/programs. There is a lot of gossip and drama throughout the place. About half of the chief/executive staff are incapable of true leadership and lack integrity. As someone else already stated in their review, management are often the ones to start the gossip and drama. Many of the middle managers are not welcoming to new staff coming in and therefore make it extremely uncomfortable for new employees. Communication is poor and inconsistent; people who need to be in the loop are often left out. There are WAY too many "cooks in the kitchen" as someone else also previously stated in their review. Benefits are not impressive and quite honestly, they're a bit disappointing. One benefit to look at more closely is sick time...5 days per year is not enough! Especially working in this field where patients come in sick and we're more likely to get sick after being surrounded by it day in and day out.

    Advice to Management

Seek truly confidential and anonymous feedback from staff, from various levels of staff. If staff are made to feel safe opening up and being honest, I think you'll find that things are not ok in many ways. Benefits are not impressive and need to be looked at if you truly want this to be the "employer of choice" (as Clint, CEO, states). Sick time really needs to be increased from 5 days a year. Vacation/PTO accruals also really need to be looked at. As someone else already advised in their review - look at flattening the organization a bit. There need to be more direct-service and/or "worker bees" and alot less managers. The company would save a lot of money by decreasing the number of supervisors/managers as well. The reason you have so many managers is because you have brought in some incompetent individuals. Competent staff/managers would mean fewer being required. Bring in staff who value people in general and treat others with respect, regardless of their level or position. Having staff (such as some of the physicians or NPs...some that have given reviews below) that feel they are better or more deserving (because they have a degree) than someone with only a High School Diploma...individuals like this create a culture that people like myself prefer not to be a part of. We ALL deserve to be treated well and compensated well if we work hard and do our jobs. Anyhow, listen to your staff and make it safe for them to be honest. Increase/improve your benefits...and ensure your executives are all modeling what's expected. Don't just promote but demand a fair, respectful, professional environment. MHC has real potential...if only some serious changes are made.

    Pros

Good collegial environment. A place to be proud of.

    Cons

Too many changes, and growth is too fast, IMHO.

    Advice to Management

Growing too quickly. Both patients and employees notice.

    Cons

I worked at MHC Healthcare (More than a year)

    Pros

Serving the underserved. They give you $500.00 annually toward medical costs if you use their facilities.

    Cons

Any good reviews on here are posted by management in an attempt to boost ratings...don't believe it! MHC is top heavy with inexperienced managers, most of whom do not have rhe education or experience to warrant their salaries. The physicians and nurse practitioners are overworked and underappreciated. Turn over is very high. They prefer new graduates as they are naive and eager to please but burn them out quickly.

    Advice to Management

    Quit
