I worked at MICROS Systems (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working on-site, with very little interaction to the corporate office. Being able to keep airline miles and rental credits! Corporate AMEX. The benefits were really good. Shortly after I left, they were purchased by Oracle.

    Cons

The Expense Reporting process was antiquated and time consuming. 12 day installs, sometimes back to back installs. Very little work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and realize they are the face of the company and reward them equally. Provide more training to the struggling employees.

I have been working at MICROS Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Unlimited sick leave, decent benefits, some good co-wokers, flexible time, steady challenging work environment.

    Cons

    Low salary, Overworked and underappreciated.
People are overloaded with works, tasks, and projects who worked hard to get them done per schedule will get more works to do where the people who aren't or who pretend to Do not get reprimanded at all so works aren't allocated to people fairly. Empty promise.
    Hard to get promoted now.
    Couple senior directors are horrible.
    no raise.
bonus is out of the door.

    Advice to Management

Hire enough people. Train them. Invest in their future. Appriciate their hard working.

I worked at MICROS Systems full-time

    Pros

    work for an industry leader
work with great people who come from a hospitality background
    overtime flows like water
    decent benefits
     free soda

    Cons

you are overloaded with projects to the point of people not caring and doing their job. People who DO do their job are just given more work and the people who aren't do not get reprimanded at all. Most management is now remote so it is hard to enforce anything

constant promises of better frontiers on the horizon but this is rarely seen. You will just get more responsibilities with an empty promise that it will come.

There have been no raises in years. the only bump is an artificial one as Oracle gives out differentials based on when you work in the day and week. Performance reviews only act as a pat on the back

Management is flaky. Not there for you when you need them, but you have to drop everything you're doing when they need something.

The buyout from Oracle was nothing short of a mess. Support is a revolving door because of the nature of the job but instead of hiring more people locally, more are staffed in the Philippines that do subpar work. There is nothing wrong with that if the people are trained properly, but they arent. you are fighting an uphill battle with techs overseas that are being told to do things to boost numbers so there is always a clash. This burden gets passed down to the customer. the customer relationship was completely destroyed when the local offices were closed and they stopped staffing people locally. They are merely seen as a dollar sign at this point. The only way a customer can get anywhere is to either go to social media or escalate to the executive level. This is not acceptable and it's hard to not agree with the customers who are at wit's end and threatening to pull out.

All of these things add up to a lot of uncertainty and low morale in the workplace.

    Advice to Management

show you actually care about your employees and your customers. There is something clearly wrong here. I'd like to think the bad reviews on here and coming from customers will actually facilitate change, but it's doubtful that they will. there will just be more things flagged, things deleted and people from HR posting fake reviews.

Some people still have old CRT monitors
When they clean the industrial coffee machine, they don't rinse it out afterwards and you'll get sick from drinking the coffee

I worked at MICROS Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great first job out of college
    Travel all over great experience
    Great co-workers
Exposure to meet different people from other companies and network

    Cons

    Poor management

Most every project I went on which was one-two a week worked well over 40 hours a week and was never compensated

Very un-loyal company received high reviews from all my accounts, but laid my self and many of my co workers due to what they said "The economy and recession" but the company made 4 billion.

Poor training and no support. Had to completely depend on co-workers and hoped they knew how to help you

High turnover, rather let good people and loyal employees go and higher kids right out of college and pay low salary then give raises to good loyal employees

Found a way to pay for any expenses you occurred that a class action law suit was brought against them and they lost finally getting compensated years later

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your employees, better prepare them, & reward employees who do a great job for you rather then get rid of them and hire new people for a low wage.

    Pros

Hmmm, still trying to figure that out. There are good ppl here, I've made a lot of friends. Been here for 4 years.

    Cons

What a mess. Don't do it. No room to move up, even the most ambitious employee will get stuck. The stuff you learn doesn't translate well other places

    Advice to Management

Create a path for employees to move up, with position and pay. Make a reason to want to stay. 20 words
