I worked at MINDBODY full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nice building. Guaranteed paycheck every 2 weeks. You can relocate with them.

    Cons

It’s glamorized customer service. People who came from worse places probably think it’s “absolutely amazing” but it’s just like any other customer service job except there’s free coffee and fruit. You still get yelled at on the phone. It’s not a lot of money. It’s just a job. Nothing great about the work itself.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Pros

A truly beautiful business doing it’s best to do very important work without wearing people out or wearing spirits thin. This is not an easy task. Few businesses even commit to this. The work at MINDBODY can be very hard - but it's very important. Finding the balance takes time. Team makes it tolerable. To be clear this is a beautiful business and well worth the experience. MINDBODY has changed the world in immeasurable ways and still has a long way to go for the mission to be complete.

    Cons

Strong empowering leadership is missing. Many people who are new to leadership and management have to go through ego development stages to find their solid secure leader self. Professional adults, who want to be treated as professional adults, don’t like going through a never ending maze of leadership ego stage development as under-supported inexperienced leader after under-supported inexperienced leader fails and is replaced by another in the same situation. Leadership is a lifelong endeavor. These folks are just at the beginning. Get them some support that helps them hold space for the greatness of that community to grow itself in. Help them turn into leaders that can lead a mission and change the world at every step of their careers. It’s available. MINDBODY hasn’t learned to hold the space for the community to lead itself. Top down leadership is experienced as force and causes fear and sickness while carefully guided community generating goals, accountability structures, and care would be experienced by community members as a community in action -changing the world together. It is hard to have the experience of being part of something bigger when the something bigger is vague and rarely acknowledged. Being a part of something bigger is something that is felt. It can’t be told to us… it is experienced. MINDBODY itself is not the something bigger to be a part of. The stunning world changing work that is getting done is the something bigger. Service itself is the something bigger. Eradicating illness with a structure for wellness is the something bigger. Decreasing healthcare costs by supporting wellness practices is the something bigger. Showing that a business can change the world is the something bigger - and it's crazy good to be a part of. It’s a felt thing though. Leaders acknowledge themselves regularly and don’t seem to express that they are completely dependent on the community’s willingness to perform. Force in the absence of willingness is very expensive. It requires layer upon layer of expensive “supervision”. It isn’t likely to fulfill on the greater mission. Cultivate willingness from the inside out. Reduce the number of layers and spend that money on building a community where minds and hearts are safe to find ways to complete the mission. “You can pay a person for their back and their hands but not their mind and their heart- those are volunteered”. What are the circumstances under which people will volunteer their minds and their hearts? Inexperienced biased insecure wrathful leaders hurt minds and hearts. Watching turnover of good people due to poor leadership hurts willing minds and hearts.

    Advice to Management

Let the community lead and heal itself. Let them create their gift to the world together. Get them some experienced and successful professional guidance. Set up structures for the community to spontaneously and organically care for itself, grow, and transform in. If you are one of the leaders who are still finding yourself please be kind and gentle with yourself and learn to love and accept others as they are. Don’t let personal biases blind you to appropriate and careful performance measures. Great leaders surround themselves with great people. You can’t do that if you are guided by insecurity. Don’t expect others to shrink so that you can feel secure. Don't expect people to be quiet so you can feel like you are winning. Leadership development is out there. Invest in it. Leadership is hard. It’s a lifelong endeavor. We never stop learning leadership skills. Take your time. Be solid but be kind. It takes courage to even try. MINDBODY definitely has a ton of courage present.

I have been working at MINDBODY

    Pros

MINDBODY hires culturally and has a strong set of core values that are used to measure performance quarterly. With a little initiative, you can get involved in just about anything you want to learn more about here. Recruiting is super helpful and MINDBODY loves to promote from within, so there's definitely potential for advancement. Our niche market also consists of mostly pretty great people, and it feels good to part of a company that values health and wellness and works to support small business owners. Stellar benefits, including health and wellness funds each month.

    Cons

This is a fast-growing company, which can be challenging. Things change quickly and often, so you have to think on your feet and pay attention. I don't know that this would be a great fit for someone who enjoys a lot of routine and consistency.

    Advice to Management

Management is already well aware of the silo effect. I think it's important that front lines employees stay connected across teams, and initiatives that accomplish this have been well received.

I have been working at MINDBODY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun, friendly, relaxed, casual atmosphere. We're treated great with so many benefits: monthly wellness vouchers, onsite massage, onsite wellness classes, insurance, paid time off, etc. Managers are great! CEO is inspiring and visionary. From the top down funnels good vibes.

    Cons

Parking due to growing pains; getting so big and we're all in separate buildings.. a bit of a disconnect from other departments.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    Cons

Huge disconnect between management and staff (lots of secrets) Deceived about pay rate Hard to get time off at last minute if needed Treated like a little child at times

    Advice to Management

Be more open with your staff. Stop treating us like children and more like professionals.

I have been working at MINDBODY full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Paid health, dental, vision, life insurance, bonuses, 160 hours PTO/year, 6 paid holidays, casual work environment, onsite wellness providers (massage, estheticians, etc), yoga and wellness classes, cafeteria, daycare coming soon, very fun group of people.

    Cons

It's more of a challenge than a con, but it's very fast paced, lots of change and you have to be ok with that and very adaptable. This is the world of SaaS. It's fierce, and it's about survival. Everyone has to do their best. B players are not tolerated.

    Advice to Management

Provide more contextual feedback, capture people in the moment and thank them for good or correct them for improvement. Sometimes B players are tolerated longer than they should be and that can drag a team done. I don't think it happens often, but sometimes, because we are so nice of a group, we can be slow to take action when someone needs to clearly find a new opportunity.

    Cons

    1. We have outgrown our building and there is not enough parking. The solution is taking turns at a parking lot a half mile down the street. The BAV (Bad-ass van) is great for getting you work quickly and easily That's it. I love it here. I'm proud to be associated with a principled and forward thinking company that cares about customers and employees and values everyone's ideas.

    Advice to Management

Well done. This place is a dream come true.

I have been working at MINDBODY

    Pros

    * Caring and happy environment * Fast paced, focused on remaining relevant * Excellent leadership at all levels * Balanced work and personal life - wellness is important and encouraged through onsite services and monthly wellness dollars * Serving a great industry (health and wellness) * Room for professional and personal development * Clear mission and goals - feel a part of the vision * Regular employee reviews centered around core values

    Cons

    * Fast growth forces fast professional growth to stay afloat, which isn't bad, but it can feel stressful at times, but good outweighs the bad and lunchtime yoga and fitness classes are a great way to reduce stress!

    Advice to Management

    * Continuous communication and vision at all levels is needed especially as the company grows in size. Everyone needs to understand their part in the mission of MINDBODY and I think more leaders needs training on how to communicate top down messages to their staff.
