I worked at MOKA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The residents and some of the staff are amazing and become like family.

    Cons

The biggest problem is that if you do your job well, you get to do the work of 3 people due to turnover and burnout. The intense pressure of being on-call 24/7 while only getting a measly salary is very demotivating. Not a lot of growth potential.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like batteries that you can just burn out and replace.

I have been working at MOKA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

MOKA offers flexible work schedules and calm relaxing work environment. This allows for you to take this job on as part-time. Good decentralized decision making process that involves all levels of employees.

    Cons

Poor pay and limited ability to move up the ladder. The pay cap and now cancelled 401k matching does not encourage longevity.

    Advice to Management

Pay the staff more money and provide better benefits package to your employees. Create room for upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Consider a better sick pay program and hire more substitute staff for holidays and emergencies. Budget an incentive program for good attendance.

I worked at MOKA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

MOKA is a great non-profit. They offer employees lots PTO, health insurance options and value employee input. You will make relationships that you'll value forever. There is always lots of over time!

    Cons

The pay is low for the kind amount of work and stress involved... this varies depending by what location you work at. I found that the at the location I worked at that a lot of my co-workers had "given up" and put little effort into daily activities unless the house supervisor was present.
