I worked at MOM Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

*the company truly cares about making safe food in a safe environment. We didn't cut costs just to have a better bottom line.
*provided a lot of training for team members and continuing education/training for staff/management

    Cons

*is a manufacturing environment, so there is definitely a manufacturing culture

    Advice to Management

Under new management since I left, so I can't speak to company policies anymore

I worked at MOM Brands full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people working the floor, actual production workers know how to make a great product. All are great people!

    Cons

Upper management made this company a great place, and have managed to bring it the other direction to.

    Advice to Management

Mr Nugent, you made it great for the original owners, sold it out to money hungry corporate america. The past, lines of people wanting jobs, now shows just what has happened. You lost focus on, employees first. Amazing how fast it turned.

I worked at MOM Brands full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Majority of people outside of management are great, they're willing to help in whatever way they can! There's a few really good managers, but unless they're willing to play the political game, they'll be squashed and not allowed to thrive.

Work/life balance was always very good.

    Cons

Management has changed dramatically over the past 8-10 years. Upper level management used to engage with employees on a personal level. Now employees are a number. Everyone is replaceable and dispensable, regardless of experience and knowledge of the company history.

Benefits (health, profit sharing, 401k, etc). were almost impossible to find anywhere else. Very easy to find competitive and often able to improve by moving on.

Very difficult to watch the company go from what it was to what it has become.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people. Don't micro-manage. Pay people what fair market value. Engage with people outside of your peer group.

    Pros

All great people to work with. The floor people are very dedicated to what's important.

    Cons

Management is so out of touch with reality.

    Advice to Management

You had a great company. Your workers deserve more.

    Pros

Great pay especially compared to average hourly rate for the area. Good benefits as far as medical/dental/401k match

    Cons

Alternating 12 hour shifts don't allow much opportunity for time to go to school. Management out of touch and benefits diminishing after POST acquisition

    Advice to Management

Don't ruin what was and still could be a great place to work

I have been working at MOM Brands full-time

    Pros

A company with long-term growth and stability, MOM also has a great culture of growth, improvement and support. Many long-term employees that really know their stuff and show the quality of the company.

    Cons

There's a disconnect between the production floor and mid to upper management, leading many in production to have a poor attitude toward MOM and reminisce of the 'good old days.' Benefits and job security have taken a hit over the last couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Take time to repair the rift between the floor and the office. When rolling out a new program or system, take the needed time to get everyone's buy-in instead of dropping it in and moving onto the next big thing.

I worked at MOM Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful people, great products, friendly culture and an overwhelming drive from the floor to make the company better. Everyone on the wants to help.

    Cons

The leadership team is not well chosen to lead this company. They are not necessarily bad, just bad for this company. They keep trying to change it into the same type of business that Malt-O-Meal used to beat. They have horribly disfigured a beautiful company that already had so much courage and spirit. Really sad. Murdered by ignorance.

    Advice to Management

If you all packed up and left, I have 100% confidence that the people left behind would pick up the pieces and make things right. They don't need you. Seriously. I'm certain they would change the name back to Malt-O-Meal too. The MOM Brands name is an abomination.

I worked at MOM Brands part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I like the overall outlook and goals, as well as values of the company. Management values the opinions of individuals on the front line of manufacturing in order to effectively streamlines and improve processes where possible.

Also, noticed a high level of promotion from within.

    Cons

Revenues come in from a handful of large buyers; sales are not diversified enough for my liking.
