I worked at MPC for more than a year

    Pros

Definitely not as bad as I was told... Highly Skilled Lighting leads and CG Sup. Great set of Tools and software used in production, the Pipeline is getting better and better... Great shows to work on. Great HOD past and present. Good Coffee !

    Cons

Short Contract for decent salary. Longer contract only when you accept a low salary...extension are always setup or canceled last minute... You need to be on the golden list or you just don't exist.

    Advice to Management

Keep taking care of the people in your department the way you do even if most of the time it ends up as an impossible task facing HR and management that constantly tries to reduce cost ...

I have been working at MPC

    Pros

great place to build up a showreel and get to experience that working in the vfx industry is not as glammerious as MPC would like you to believe throughout their linkedin propeganda

    Cons

the people you work with are nice but the management aren't in it to make you have a happy stay, they are running a business like a animal farm, they care little with you sitting late trying to meet your set deadlines.

    Advice to Management

this is a billion dollar industry and you can't even afford to pay the majority of people a proper salary? Pathetic.

I worked at MPC for more than a year

    Pros

Paid OT *1.5 Help relocating if from USA, Europe, etc (paid hotel and paid flight + visa) Free meal if doing OT in the evening or weekends Free Breakfast Free beer on Fridays Great opportunity for juniors to get interesting things to do (shots, models, fx, etc) Montreal is a nice city

    Cons

A lot of overtime depending on show Lower salary comparing to other studios Lack of recognition for talented people, don't give salary raise (3% tops), don't do much to keep them in the company. Lack of seniors to teach the younger employee tips and tricks

    Advice to Management

MPC Montreal might not be perfect but it's still way better than in London. Maybe try to apply Montreal style to London and it wouldn't have such a bad reputation ? (paid OT after 40hrs !)

I worked at MPC (Less than a year)

    Pros

-great people -great shows and projects -much responsibility and opportunities really fast (you have a chance to work on big shots or assets)

    Cons

-ridiculous amount of overtime (up to 90h a week, 60h a week in average) -bad production management -high pressure (People were crying in my arms and leads had burn outs) -unrealistic scheduling -too static pipeline ( I felt like my hands are tied) -department blaming ( deparments should work together not against another)

    Advice to Management

-Reduce overtime — overtime should be for unexpected issues and not as regualar planned production time -get more well experienced Seniors and pay them well -try to keep good employees by creating a nice work environment -try to get rid of the static department hierarchy -have more transparency in production matters/ management -don't blame artists for bad management or bad scheduling — teach them instead how to...
