    Pros

Nothing good to say it was a bad environment it was like high school revisited

    Cons

They claim to have am amazing training program and that you would have mentor for months... that's a lie they throw you in you can't find your mentor to ask questions.. the rest of the staff is walking around doing nothing. The boss don't care he just points out what you are doing wrong . When other employees are just standing around flirting with one another. After you are showed something once the expect you to know what's going on.. and the 1st month of training is joke you show up at 7am and then don't see your Trainor until 830am then they disappear all the time....!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Pay attention and weed out the slackers and stop nit-picking the hardest workers#

I have been working at MPI Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gain excellent experiance with a variety of pre clinical studies functions. Work with multiple species with different dosing and blood collection methods. You will learn a lot.

    Cons

    Pay is about 13.00/hr
Hours can be crazy, the department that I'm in you get short notice of third shift time or you will have to work multiple weekends in a row with no/short notice. Unless you've specifically requested time off you can pretty consider yourself on-call all the time, with no on-call pay. And there is no added compensation for working crazy hours, third shift gets $1.00/hr more an hour but any overtime is reverted back to your original rate of pay without the extra dollar. Further more because normally the third shift aren't for that long you will all most alway lose eight hours during the week and unless you have time to comp. you will have to use PTO to make up the difference in your pay check. The work is hard and the hours are brutal, the standard of work in my group at least is incredibly high, which would all be okay if we were compensated accordingly. It can be very difficult to move up in the company PL and GL positions are rarely available and when they are most groups know who they're pick is before they even interview. I've been there over a year and only seen a total of 4 PL positions open and all but one of them was filled from within there own group and everyone pretty much knew who was going to get it before hand. And I've seen no GL positions open. And no SD position either.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees more.

    Pros

    SOME flexibility with hour. Benefits

    Cons

Mgmt lack of HONEST communication. Top heavy mgmt (and vision!) seem to change quarterly. Workers in trenches are treated as serfs.

    Advice to Management

Bill, stop lying. Pay your bills. Make the SLT treat ALL your employees with respect.

    Pros

A great starting company for those right out of college or not planning on going to college.
If you work hard you can move up a small amount and get a decent living wage.
People are friendly for the most part.
offers flexible hours if you can get out of the lab areas.
Reimburses for college (but for some reason almost no one takes them up on it)
Looks good on a resume to go elsewhere when you are ready to leave.

    Cons

Salary is below average for its industry.
Frequent layoffs and small sized group cuts, and pay freezes.
low level work is difficult and soul wrenching (experimenting on animals) despite being federally required for drug safety.
Upper management specializes in cronyism, nepotism, and poor decision making.
Company is going to face a huge change in the next 3-6 years as the owner is close to 70 and wants to quit/retire and not in the greatest of health. The business will most likely be sold with massive impact on the staff.
company is burdened with a massive debt to a finance group that actually steers the reins on all real decision making. It's causes layoffs, short sighted decisions, and bad long term plan as they try to get some sort of short term gain out of their investment.
senior leadership team has a tendency to run out the good leaders as they are scared to make the changes that are needed to fix the company. The good ones get fed up and leave.
Company is stuck in a negative loop of poor quality: senior techs are apathetic to their job so train new hires sloppily, this causes mistakes that lose customers, which lowers profit which means less raises/promotions which causes more apathy, and so on. They uses to have very high quality ratings but has been getting severe dings lately federal inspections that they never would of had years ago.

    Advice to Management

Clean house and have the owner step down with out selling off the company. Get out from under the finance group that is running the show. Really listen to staff on which managers are effective and keep them. Clean out the rest. Come up with an actual incentive to boost quality. Most efforts have been a joke which the low level staff don't care about at all.

    Pros

Great coworkers. Great place starting out due to the knowledge gained. Good benefits.

    Cons

There appears to be a disconnect between upper level management and bench level employees. Employees are often left feeling that they do not have a voice and cannot make an impact.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to break down the perceived barriers. Doing so will not only improve your relationship with your employees, it will empower them and together you can propel the company to the next level.
