I have been working at MRE Consulting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Been given the opportunity to get hands-on experience with various technologies

    Cons

Implement better tools for internal communication

    Advice to Management

    Training

    Pros

You gain hands on experience in various technologies.

    Cons

Not enough workforce to handle the client base.
    Unexpected layoffs.
You get a low ball offer for compensation.
It is not uncommon to have an associate quit the company within a year due to the high turnover rate.
    No formal training.
There is no work life balance.
You were expected to drive in flooded waters during Hurricane Harvey.
    PTO days are low.
You get paid once a month.
Corrupted management is greedy with the budget and will hire cheap to fill their own pockets. This is another reason for the turnover rate.
Shady practices when attempting to gain or retain clients.
Get ready to be thrown under the bus.

    Advice to Management

You are in the consulting business but yet you do not follow your own advice. I recommend evaluating your management team to see who is causing chaos. You get what you pay for.

    Pros

    Cons

    Annual pay increase is skall

    Advice to Management

    Review annual pay increase structure

    Pros

Company has some extensive relationships in the Houston energy sector, and you can get a good start to your career.

    Cons

Talk of advancement is just that, talk. The company puts a lot of stock in its "career advisor" program, but your advisor is just there to tell you what will keep you from making too many waves with respect to your career.

I worked at MRE Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many of the people are wonderful
    Energetic work environment
    Charity contributions

    Cons

For certain positions a person is stuck
Particular mid-management power-players are impossible to approach
    Oil and Gas market dependent

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to connect with their new employees and reassure them that they have somewhere to go in their careers. Also, do NOT label a position as a transitional/starting position when the manager over that position has no intention of ever promoting a subordinate beyond their scope of oversight.

I have been working at MRE Consulting full-time

    Pros

    Nice staff
    Great executives
    Very friendly

    Cons

Your managers do not manage well, they do not tell you what they want you to do and if you are new they will not train you.

    Advice to Management

Please learn how to actually manage your employees. There is little to no communication. There is little to no training from any supervisor.

    Pros

Great people, good salary and bonus. Middle-of-the-line benefits for a consulting company.

    Cons

    Lack of employee development.

I worked at MRE Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    • They hire good people; good colleagues.
    • The Happy Hours are fun.
    • The Christmas party was fun.

    Cons

**ITM side, primarily the SMB group. I can't speak for the CTRM side of the business.**

    • There is a general distrust employees have of upper management.

    • Managers are so incredibly busy they are disconnected from their team and what’s going on in them.

    • Organization and ticket management. Employees aren’t sure how to track the time they take to use the restroom. Everything is broken down to a granular level; time buckets for email management, meetings, documentation, training, etc.

    • Be prepared to do anything management tells you to do, even it’s completely off from what you’d expect.

    • Below market average salaries, benefits are mediocre.

    • Be wary of “promises” or “incentives” (training etc.) at employment. This appears to be a part of the recruitment process to achieve the below market salary.

    • Small team/environment – So expect general office drama and cherry picking.

    Advice to Management

Make changes to counter the cons aforementioned. I just provided a perspective. My best suggestion is to get opinions from employees in a safe, anonymous way.

    Pros

Career Advising program guides you through the various stages of your career.
Lots of Visibility with partners through plenty of different workshops and programs.
A committed company to the development of their employees.

    Cons

Profit margins are tied intently to the Oil and Gas business and so it is a little tight when oil goes down.
Low cost leading on projects sometimes makes for more difficult completion expectations.
Sometimes you have to embrace the suck for longer than intended.

I worked at MRE Consulting (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a Summer Intern with MRE and it was a great experience. The people there are always willing to help out a fellow employee. I was thrown into the fire on several occasions, but there was always someone there reaching out to make sure I understood the process of their business. Also, from top to bottom, everyone in the company is easily accessible. I could go into the CEO's office anytime of the day and he would welcome me. Same goes all the way down to the Business Analysts. Everyone seemed to love what they were doing and enjoyed helping other people.

    Cons

It's consulting, so no surprise here, but a lot of traveling can get old quickly.
